Which home charging point?

That looks nice and neat.Hidden supply cable plus non-tethered so it doesn't look like a hose pipe.
Each to their own, but I don't understand the enthusiasm for the tethered variety. As you say, you can take your cable with you - maybe to use when you are away from home too. If you like the convenience of tethered, then just leave the cable plugged in at the charger end - unless I am missing something.
My charger is on the side of the house so the coiled cable is partially hidden by the much more picturesque wheelie bins!

I suspect that there are some crossed wires (no pun) here.
It won't connect to the meter, but may be connected near the meter.
It (the EVSE) has to be connected to a consumer unit even though this may be one with a single breaker.
Don't accept a new CU inside your meter box. It isn't allowed by the DNO, though I accept it can be safe and you may well get away with it - but the facts remain it is the wrong way to do it.
I see your CU is 9-11m from your meter... that sounds odd as tails are supposed to be no more than 3m. Maybe you have a sub-main. Is there a switched/fused connection AFTER the meter?
It sounds like connecting at the meter (ideally after an isolator) via Henley blocks, running new tails to the new CU may work.
It does become a bit of a nightmare when the meter enclosure is close, but the CU is far away - though a very unusual arrangement.
Any pictures that might make it clearer?

What is the external diameter of 16mm and 25mm cables?
Also the main fuse is 100a.

I needed two chargers so I bought one tethered and the other untethered.
They each have their pros and cons.
Aesthetics don’t come into it particularly, but I did mount them on either side of my garage so not visible from ahead, and had the cables chased inside the wall so they look neat as above. I don’t care if there’s a wire coiled around it and tend to leave a much longer 15m on the untethered permanently.

The meter in my house is a nightmare to get to.
But.. I have a 6mm cable running from the meter to a room, fairly close to where i’m looking to have an EV charger installed.
The run is about 10m, 5m more to go.
Could that be used?
More for convenience than cost, reduce the disruption..
Then run data cable separately, which can be done.
Do I have to have a data cable if I get a wifi type?
The tails by meter were beefed up during Smart Meter install last year also.

Assuming it's a 3core ie 3 x6mm it should be ok as the load is about 32Amps or so. But.. I have a 6mm cable running from the meter to a room, fairly close to where i’m looking to have an EV charger installed.

I have no data cable connected to my Ohme charger. It works on the WiFi network.

Would certainly make life easier!
The in/situ cable was put in 10 years or so ago, for a long gone hot-tub
It’s not connected to a fuse after changes during building work, but it’s there..

We extended and renovated our house including a full rewire and had an external socket put on the wall next to the drive. But.. I have a 6mm cable running from the meter to a room, fairly close to where i’m looking to have an EV charger installed.

It's fed via a dedicated breaker in 6mm2 cable with the intention that one day it will probably get swapped out for a car charger without any need for ripping up the house or unsigntly external cable runs.
Looking for a bit of advice on what charger to get.
Currently using the 3 pin granny charger, which is OK as I set the charge to only come on overnight.
But we're using the car more and it doesn't always get back up to 100% in the time it charges at cheap rate.
Need something that will pump in the juice faster!
We are currently with Utility Warehouse for electricity (We're electric only here as there is no gas in the village and we don't have oil either!)
Day rate: 37p
Night rate: 9p (00:30 - 07:30)
Standing charge: 31p a day
Happy to switch providers, we're not tied down to anything.
Also the Utility Warehouse tariff is variable, at the moment it's the cheapest it's been for a while, but previously we were up at 18p overnight in May/June.
The car is a Vauxhall Corsa-e 50Kw battery.
We have an old victorian house (circa 1820) - Semi Detached
Private driveway around the back.
Just had a new consumer unit fitted, but we may need some upgrading?
I was looking at the Ohme to get into the Octopus tariffs, but not sure.
Do I need to get something direct from Octopus?
Or is it better to find a local installer and then switch?
Most quotes I have so far are £1,000+
The electric comes into the front of the house into the consumer unit etc...
I need the charger around the back of the house.
If they ran it outside along the walls, I'd estimate about 20m of cabling would be required.
We also have solar panels on the roof of the garage.
Is there something that'll nab the excess electricity from these?
Could they connect from the electric connections in the garage?
There is a separate fusebox etc in the garage for the solar.
That would reduce the cable run significantly.
Million questions! Sorry I am a newbie to this EV world!

Who are you with? What is your day/night rate and standing charge?
We stuck with Utility warehouse due to having storage heaters on overnight and needed and Economy 7 tariff.
Storage heaters are slowly being ripped out and replaced. Hence we are now looking at switching options.

They have an EV tariff at 8p kw but the standard unit rate then increases to 37p kph

EVSEs charge at 7kW, so in your 7 hour cheap rate period you will be able to fill up, even if you run until virtually empty. Note that the car's battery is 50kWh, not kW.Currently using the 3 pin granny charger, which is OK as I set the charge to only come on overnight.

Do you have excess solar power - if the panels are on a garage roof, I guess you don't have many but if you do then you should choose an EVSE which enables any excess to be routed to the car as long as it's more than 1.4kW. The Hypervolt, Zappi and Anderson all do that, not sure about the Ohme or others.

I'm currently having difficulty getting Octopus to sort out a Wallbox Pulsar that hasn't worked since it was installed 6 weeks ago. The earliest they can get someone out to replace it is 12th Dec. I'd advise getting someone local to do the install even it it means paying a bit more.Do I need to get something direct from Octopus?

Any love for Hyoervolt Home 3 charger?
Is already compatible with IO and will be OVO compatible in the new year.
I have had a Hypervolt 2.0 for 2 years and it's been good and reliable, even though it uses WiFi rather than being hard-wired which has caused problems for many users. But I must say their development process for the app and portal are woeful - unfulfilled promises, backward steps. Is already compatible with IO and will be OVO compatible in the new year.
