Kia E-Niros are starting to push this kind of figure now. I've been contemplating one for 6-9 months time. My mate loves his.
Having gone around in quite a few circles, I'm now basically minded to push the budget by a few grand and get an e-Niro 64. Looks like some around 50-60k miles are around £18k, so that's still another 4 years and ~40k miles of manufacturer warranty. I like the cabin and driving position, the interior space is good, the range looks good, and I'm not aware of any major issues with them (?) Only thing is I've just noticed that the old petrol car I need to sell has got slight rust in the wheelarches, so will need to get that fixed and then sold, and then can go for a Niro.
I've taken the plunge and purchased a 38kWh Hyundai Ioniq at the weekend, it was just over thread budget, as I wanted a Premium SE with the electric seats, and this one had a sunroof as well. Looking forward to using it on the commute this week (40 miles each way), from the drive back from Peterborough ~ 80 miles, I was really pleased with it. I know the 38 is limited when fast charging, but It's unlikely I will public charge as we will likely take the other car on longer journeys so it should be perfect for us.
I do need to get it booked in with Hyundai for the coolant bulletin.

Enjoyed my first commute in it yesterday, although the weather was awful, so headlights and wipers on. Drove 81 miles, leaving with 80% battery, and got home with 31% remaining, roughly 4.3 miles / kW with no particular consideration for economy. I'm happy with that as I had done my calculations around 3.7 miles / kW. It'll be interesting to see how it changes over winter and as I get used to the car.
I've got an Ohme Home Pro being installed today, and then need to swap to a cheap tariff for my electricity. I am with outfox the market at 26.8p per kWh, so happy with 6p/mile currently, but will be nice to do better. My Leon is costing 15p/mile with current fuel prices.
Insurance was a nice surprise, from the stories in the news (and my own experience with my Leon) was expecting a big jump, particularly to keep the same policy, but was only an extra £100 to replace my Wife's Focus until end of May, and that included a significant increase in miles from 3,000 to 10,000.

I’d recommend Ovo Anytime. They’ve just dropped the price to 7p/kWh for EV charging and no affect on the standard tariff - I’m on variable at the moment which is 25.x p/kWh. Works really well for us. Yep, was tempted with one, but Insurance Group 19 versus 10 for an e-Up rules it out as we'll be adding a 17 year old in early 2025.

Worth running a quote as insurance groups make little difference with a learner. After passing you probably wouldn’t want a black box on the car, which is pretty much the only way to make cars insurance for the first couple of years.Been around all the buoys, it's going to be an e-Up, Mii or Citigo for us. As someone posted on other thread, you can get a new (pre the incoming facelift) Corsa E, for under 20k
200 mile range

I'm in a similar position, trying to find a new family car for the £15k budget. 2 young children and need a decent, but not huge boot. Would prefer a slightly higher ride hide for loading the kids in. Not set on EV but the cheaper running cost and smoother drive is appealing. Do want a real world driving range of 150 miles for a journey of 110 miles done a few times a year to visit family.
Research so far suggests I will probably need to up the budget to £18k and this will get us a 1-3 year old Peugeot e-2008, Citroen e-C4 or Nissan Leaf e+, from a car supermarket or franchise dealer.
The Peugeot is the most stylish and I think the best boot size. The Citroen is a bit cheaper but a slightly smaller boot. And then the Leaf which is an older design but perhaps a longer range.
Ruled out some other options like Hyundai Ioniq (a bit too low slung for us) and Kona (too small).
Anyone got any thoughts on which of these would be the best option?
Thanks.

Nicely below budget, but I’ve just gone for a 70 plate e-Up! in tungsten silver, low miles and was close to the cost of the equivalent age Seat Mii’s that were available.
Still some VW warranty remaining on it, extending that and insuring it will be less than £50 a month.
And by my reckoning it’ll cost about £2.50 to fully charge.
Interested to have our first EV and to see if we end up using it more than the main family car which is a Q5 2.0 diesel for all of the local stuff.
Need to sort my home charger now, looking at the pod point 3 I think.

e-niro 64. Bigger inside than your options, better range.Research so far suggests I will probably need to up the budget to £18k and this will get us a 1-3 year old Peugeot e-2008, Citroen e-C4 or Nissan Leaf e+, from a car supermarket or franchise dealer.

Leaf has battery issues - no thermal management
the e-c4/e2008/mokka-e/ds are all the same platform.

There are some 64 kWh e-Niros around £17-18k, it feels like they'd be ideal for your requirements if you can find a good one in budget.Research so far suggests I will probably need to up the budget to £18k and this will get us a 1-3 year old Peugeot e-2008, Citroen e-C4 or Nissan Leaf e+, from a car supermarket or franchise dealer.

Interestingly the e-C4 seems to have a longer wheelbase and overall length than the e2008, I'm not clear how the overall space inside shakes out.
I'm hoping to nab a cheap e-C4 myself for around £15k or so.

My YouTube research suggests they have less boot space than the e-2008.

Point taken on the 2008/C4, I guess the Pug perhaps sits you a fraction more upright and thus leaves more length in the boot, either that or the 'loading line' is assumed to be higher perhaps.
My understanding is the range gap is a double whammy, as the Niro has a bigger battery (64 vs 50 kWh) and a bit better efficiency at motorway speeds compared to the Stellantis cars.
Definitely worth a sit in to see what you think IMO.
(My wife has vetoed Kia/Hyundai, so looking towards the e-C4 now)

I can't find any under £19.5k near me and those examples are three years old, which admittedly is still very new. Have to work out whether the real world range is that much better to warranty the extra spend.
A 3yo Kia comes with 4 years of manufacturer warranty, whereas a 1yo Peugeot comes with 2 years. So in terms of remaining warranty, the Kia could be considered 'newer'.My understanding is the range gap is a double whammy, as the Niro has a bigger battery (64 vs 50 kWh) and a bit better efficiency at motorway speeds compared to the Stellantis cars.
