Will you be able to insure fully a comp, a car that is from a defunct start up and spares will surely be a horrendous issue if you were to have a bump?
Ooof, forgot about that - mmm, good point. I guess 3rd party only is the only option at that point. Puts a bigger risk at play. Maybe not then.Toaster Pilot said:

Why wouldn’t you? It’d just be written off if it couldn’t be repaired LivLL said:

Spares will be scarce yes, but also for a very tech heavy car there will presumably also be no updates or connectivity. There's a private seller listing a 'hyper range' one on Autotrader for £48k when dealers are offering them for under £30k... I think someone is behind the curve on this!
Could be the cheapest way to 500bhp+ hypercar performance in a couple of months!
Lucid have applied for the "Lucid Ocean" trademark, so perhaps Lucid will acquire the brand. Could be a quick way into the smaller SUV + RHD segment for Lucid. However, Lucid lose £100,000s on every car they sell so it's not like they have financial stability.

They couldn’t replace it like for like and as for the market value cash as replacement…they might unroll a few creased £20 notes from the depths of their pockets!
So it’s really easy for them to insure fully comp on a market value basis then Of course, these are just quotes, and the company may refuse cover when you actually try to buy the policy.

I was just pondering, companies refuse to insure cars like Range Rovers regularly because of the high risk to them, seems a Fisker would be high risk if a minor accident results in total loss.I guess there will always be a quote to be had, surprised the ones gmaz got were so low to be fair.

Until something as simple as the 12V battery dying, and the keys stop working needing connecting to the 'mothership' for validation, but with no mothership its now just a brick on the driveway.Ofcourse some third party support may come along to root the firmware etc, but given how few of these are around that seems very unlikely.
All these EVs, including our Tesla are essentially like giant smart phones. Without Internet/mothership support they become at best dumb analogue phones at worst unusable.
