Why are used Audi e-tron so cheap?

The residual value of the car did make me burst out laughing. You can already go outwith the dealer network and buy an equivalent Etron for £22.5k. The idea those cars are worth £18k in two years time is for the birds...
Which rather begs the question, what will these things be worth in two years?T_S_M said:
Glad people have managed to take advantage of the offer that I posted.
I still haven’t picked mine up yet due to Maidstone Audi being useless. Should be looking at getting it this weekend though.
The residual value on mine is £23k after 18 months and there’s no way it’s going to be worth that, so it’s a no-brainer to just give it back at the end like a lease.
My figures are £500 month, £280/month, 6k over 18 months. The dealer messed up my paperwork so had to knock £750 off the price of the car to stick to the deal agreed.
If anyone is looking, there is around a month wait for the charger to be fitted, so something to be aware of.
They will almost certainly just lease it out again, rinse and repeat for as long as they trust the vehicle. With them being EVs there might not be much to go wrong...I still haven’t picked mine up yet due to Maidstone Audi being useless. Should be looking at getting it this weekend though.

Which rather begs the question, what will these things be worth in two years?Car depreciation reduces over time and reduces significantly as the cars base value is reached. The base value is actually defined by what other cars are available for the same sort of money and how appealing those options are.
In the case of early gen EV SUV's, their value has been initially dragged down by the above sort of comparison - because other models have since launched that offer the same, or more.. for less, thus collapsing the values of the earlier cars.
But can a £70-80k car that's just a few years old actually sink rapidly below, say £10-15k, spec/mileage dependant anytime soon? Within two years? Quite possibly not - because it may well prove to be for the same money, few buyers will be able to find anything overall 'better' for their drive, for less ££
Unless people are doing crazy mileage or trashing the cars, I'd guess around £2-3k pa depreciation a year from this point.
The wildcard factor would be battery degredation occuring to a worrying extent as the cars age - but so far, across almost the entire EV industry, there are no signs of that.

I think we can just ignore the initial price but I agree 2-3k a year sounds reasonable. There will be quite a lot in this price range in 2 years time, I think we'll have Model 3's for £15k in a couple of years. But can a £70-80k car that's just a few years old actually sink rapidly below, say £10-15k, spec/mileage dependant anytime soon? I think values will continue to collapse
The vast majority simply don't need anything that big and the real killer will be out of warranty repair costs which are eye watering
I'll take the Zoe![smile](/inc/images/smile.gif)
A lot of people just like being in a big high-up SUV, even if it's just for going to the shops! My wife was over the moon when I suggested getting rid of the sports car for one of these lolThe vast majority simply don't need anything that big and the real killer will be out of warranty repair costs which are eye watering

Very wise, could save a lot of money. The vast majority simply don't need anything that big and the real killer will be out of warranty repair costs which are eye watering

The only problem is, you'll have... A Zoe. Nothing wrong with that, but a person that desires a large, powerful 4x4 SUV dripping with gadgets and expensive leather, is probably not going to see a Zoe as an alternative.
Personally I'd take the e-tron or iPace, both are staggering value now, and keep them in warranty - about £500-700 a year. Still a bargain given the amount and class of car.

I'm off to my local dealer to see/drive one tomorrow having never driven an electric car. Most on a good deal are miles away!
Signed for this car today. 2k down 260 a month.
Blue 71 reg 50 with nice options.
1 question, do I need to do anything to instigate the ohme charger install? The dealer told me that purchase of the car automatically starts the process.

Yeah you will receive an email from Ohme, which includes a questionnaire/survey of your home you fill out. Once you’ve completed that someone from ChargedEV, who install them, will contact you to book your fitting. 2k down 260 a month.

It is quite a lengthy process though. I sent my survey 2 weeks ago, and they contacted me yesterday to book me in for fitting on the 10th Jane.
You’ll also have to be £50 for surge protection too.
ETA: How did it drive? I’ve not had chance to drive one yet, only poke around inside.
