There's a guy on Etsy who prints up in 3d for about 50 quid. If you look on ebay there's people trying to sell the same 3d printed kit for nearly £200.
I believe the guy who originally designed it left it open source so people could freely distribute it.
Printbrothers is the etsy company

I got one of the above printed and cobbled something together to fit a Quadlock mag mount to it. It's not pretty but when the phones on it I can't see it biggrin

I have tried many aftermarket mounts, conclusion is 12K Retrofits CarPlay is a tidy solution - befitting of a McLaren

Thank you, with the etsy one how did you fit the mount to the console?

It bolts on to the back of the console. You may need to get some slightly longer bolts to replace the existing mclaren bolts.

I managed to utilise the original bolts in the pictures above. Just about get enough to hold it all in place. I had planned to find some longer ones but never got round to it and it has been in place for a year now so seems fine thumbup

Thanks, so there are a couple of bolts behind the console?
Not yet collected the car so apologies if obvious

Did you get yours in the end?
Just wandering what solution you used for the phone mount onto the bracket?
The one posted above looks fixed where I'd prefer a little rotation if possible

Yea Aaron at printbrothers on etsy sorted me two out for peanuts tbh. Currently using mine as we speak on French Alps trip, been rock solid. Bought a 17mm ball mount and short camera mount extension to space the ball about an inch away from the 3d printed mount itself. Total cost less than 50 quid for 2 x printed mounts (two styles available) plus the camera mount bits off amazon. It's fully 360 adjustable.

Cool, I don't suppose you have a link to the mounts etc you got from amazon and being really cheeky, a pic of how you've fitted it all together?

Drop me a message if you like. Mine looks a little tidier than the previous picture, no disrespect intended!

I have Android Auto in one of my other cars - it murders battery life on my phone. So if driving any distance I'd still have to plug my phone in, so might still end up with a phone mount - although I suppose it could just be in the centre console storage since I wouldn't have to see it.

I've used the cig lighter I the centre console with a USB converter as its higher power output than the mclaren usb

Thanks, but I meant physical location rather than power source. I have multi socket adapters in all of my cars to power dashcam / Alexa auto / phone chargers etc and the McLaren one is plugged into the cigarette lighter socket.

I have just done 3000 miles on a European adventure using the newly fitted Apple Car play. I plugged my phone in from the centre console little storage area and kept it in the netting between the seats and it worked perfectly. Rarely lost signal strength and kept the phone charged. I also used Spotify at the same time.
