I like that. Good colour and the seats are a mix of leather and alcantara - my first 650 was all leather but I think this is a nicer combination.

Just been to see it.

Corrosion on one of the front panels in multiple areas and the paint over the rear deck looks off to me (faded). Didn’t get chance to look inside as they’d parked it too tight.

They would be happy for an inspection (but said only at their premises). No current McLaren warranty.

It’s not SOR, apparently.

I walked away as I’m sure there are tidier examples. It is on at strong money to buy from an independent.

Was this an appointment or did you just turn up? Bit weird not to move it into a position where a prospective buyer could look inside the car.

Appointment.

Turned up on time, the salesman was with a customer and looked confused that I was there. I was pointed towards the car and left to it. Had to ask for them to unlock it so I could try to check it, but didn’t dare get inside as it was way too tight and parked next to other high end cars. Salesman walked off and left me, never came back.

All worked out well as I’ve just bought a perfect 570s spider instead!

Bizarre. I honestly wonder how some of these companies sell any cars.

I made an appointment to view a gallardo once, several days in advance. I drove for over an hour to get to the garage, turned up at the arranged time, and found the car was up on jacks in the workshop with all the wheels off. A week later I was looking at an F430, as before this was arranged days in advance, had a look around the car and asked if we could take it out on the road; the salesman seemed genuinely put out that I would even ask and flatly refused. I said I didn't even need to drive it yet, he could drive it. Apparently that was also a no, because he had just washed it. He make it clear the car wasn't moving an inch until a deposit was down.

I never returned to either garage.

On the plus side, mine will be up for sale soon and it sounds like the competition is poor smile

If you keep dropping in and out of MOC, we'll never catch up again... unless you're staying in the family that is...
Wonder what Raymond has outside of his pub...

Probably why this dealer has had a Ferrari 360 for sale for over 2 years. I looked at it when I was buying my last car (poor condition) and it’s still there at the back of the storage. Cannot be good for it.

I'll decide when I get it back from V. A few things have broken on it recently and although they are all very minor it's just annoying me (it's probably also partly because it's the end of winter when it hasn't been used much). I think the wife is also losing patience with it.

If I do sell, I won't replace it. Part of the problem is that I don't really have much use for it these days and it just seems unnecessary. Having said that - despite being quite annoyed with it yesterday (because I couldn't close the passenger door since Sunday) - and even though I was just trundling along - I still really enjoyed the drive to V yesterday. So we'll see.

Where I really gelled with a car I applied the three strikes rule.

Maybe not so much with McLaren but when recommissioning something like an '88 Porsche 944 ... which were built to do 200,000 miles ... it often took a couple of attempts to repair and then replace selling things like indicators, windscreen wipers, headlights, etc .... but once sorted hopefully good for another ten years ?

Had a chat about my car with somebody last night who's looking for one - based on that, don't think mine will be for sale anytime soon, or certainly not as a private sale.

He's not seen the car but based on dealer prices (primarily Thorney) he believed my car should be low 80s.

That seems a tad low to me. It's a good colour (Aurora blue) with a good interior colour (dark with yellow piping), pretty high spec (although not dripping in carbon) : carbon interior / mirrors / air intakes, lift, soft close, sports exhaust, premium audio option, electric steering column, reversing camera, electric heated seats etc.
Rechargeable accumulators from V.
Currently just under 17k miles and excellent condition (has front PPF).

If that's only an £80k car it's staying on my driveway!

If I decide to sell, I think if just give it to AB who I'm sure would get me a better return than that.
But I suspect that once it's back from V - especially since it's spring - I'll decide to keep it anyway.

Having bought last year I have to agree with this person. Nothing against your car, I'm sure it's great, but any private sale is going to be massively under dealer rates because people see private sale McLarens as a gamble. Low 80s is probably the high water mark for any private sale 650S.

Over the last couple of months they’re deffo been an uplift in 650S values, maybe it’s in small part to the Metcalfe effect, and that they seem to have acquired the reputation of a better sorted and built 12C? What might stop true values going further is the dropping of 720S values that are now starting in the hundred and teens area.
I’ve probably never been closer to getting one, especially with XP1 now close to where I live, and there’s one for sale particularly which works for me. The issue now is I’m doubting whether I can get out of it in my garage… I’ve got more calculations written down than NASA!

I knew I wouldn't be able to garage it when I bought the first one.

Technically, I could garage mine now but it would be inconvenient so still don't bother.

As with most model specific value chats on here and having spent the last 6 months plus looking, a 720s worth having is not going to be in the 100 teens, unless you find a very motivated seller.
