Can't say, can't celebrate, got told off last time.
Anyway, delighted here. Well done Mclaren.
Yes I remember. That was an odd one - not your responsibility. As a Yank living in England I’m not sure I could ask the Beeb to not display Super Bowl results until the Tuesday after I’ve had a chance to watch it after work on Monday.
Anyway, enjoyed the season - can’t wait for 2025.

But all the same I do appreciate it if someone makes an effort not to surprise me with it. Media outlets like the BBC have been doing that for years, the old phrase on the TV after the football "if you don't want to know the result look away now"; just last month I hadn't caught the race yet and was pleased when a radio newsreader said "we have the F1 results coming up so if you don't want to know the result turn the volume down". Not putting it in the title of a thread is a nice thing to do.
I very much did not appreciate a lady at a music festival over the summer. Naturally, being at a music festival, I couldn't watch the race, but I avoided the news, avoided social media, etc. Unfortunately my son was wearing a McLaren top that day, so a total stranger walked up and said "oh, you're a McLaren fan; Lando won today". Thanks for that madam. This was maybe an hour after the GP, and we were in the middle of a field, there was no plausible way we could have seen it.

As someone who often has to wait to watch the race late on Sunday, or even Monday, I accept it is my responsibility to avoid the result. That includes staying away from places where I am likely to see the result - like a McLaren forum on Pistonheads. Results have been spoiled for me many times, but I take responsibility for failing to avoid it.

Exactly this. I avoid media outlets but still check email and some forums. Sending someone an email or starting a thread with "F1 result" as the title is very different to "Lando won this morning" in the title. And on PH the new posts bring up the thread title and board, so posting it on a Marque specific board set up to discuss the merits (or not) of road cars is very different to a Motorsport board which I would avoid. But all the same I do appreciate it if someone makes an effort not to surprise me with it. Blaming some random fan who is chuffed about a result thought you may want to know (not a mind reader) or saying F1 winning races has nothing to do with road cars is something I don't agree with. Didn't someone say, win races on a Sunday, sell cars on Monday? So are we not allowed to say anything here to celebrate the brand? How sad. FFS get a grip!.

I am fairly certain nobody is saying that. For what it's worth, when McLaren are on the cusp of winning a WCC, a Mclaren forum is exactly the kind of place I would avoid if I hadn't seen the race. I am in agreement that if I did come on here and see the result that would be my own fault.

Lando Norris drives an F1 car made by a company that shares the name of and is under the same part ownership for the Mclaren Automotive road car brand. Nobody else, ever as far as I can see, has posted F1 results on the related marque specific boards.Blaming some random fan who is chuffed about a result thought you may want to know (not a mind reader) or saying F1 winning races has nothing to do with road cars is something I don't agree with. But even if they did, it is common courtesy to warn people that the post contains the result of a sporting event that has just ended somewhere in a foregn time zone and is being shown later in the day on free to air UK TV, rather than include the result in the subject.
Sure, celebrate the related brand and their sporting success, but do it in the right place and in a considerate manner.

Hey, that's what I 'try' to do. No need for public slaughter informing on or even celebrating the name McLaren. So where's right place? My living room on my own? I have seen other brands celebrate on forums over many years here. I've avoided internet forums, news outlets etc sometimes without success, my bad if I'm not able to watch 'live' so as not to spoil my viewing of it and click on the wrong thing. I think some should take responsibility for what they click on without blaming others. I really can't see what the problem is. Jeeez, just a McLaren fan but don't know why I even bother here sometimes. But even if they did, it is common courtesy to warn people that the post contains the result of a sporting event that has just ended somewhere in a foregn time zone and is being shown later in the day on free to air UK TV, rather than include the result in the subject.

If I couldn't watch a particular race, I took it upon myself to avoid social media if I didn't want a spoiler.
I always assume that F1 results will be discussed on McLaren (etc) social media groups. So I avoid the internet etc entirely until I watch a recording.
I feel it's weird to try to force others not to discuss results of a race etc.

I usually find that it’s the media (e.g. BBC TV) that don’t have the rights to show the sport that do this.
