Mclaren 570GT Transmission Fault sign
Discussion
Hi Everyone,
I have transmission fault sign on my Mclaren 3 days ago. The signs comes and goes. The car drive well with no issues. I had it OBD yesterday at local garage and has a Fault code P071500 which says Input Shaft 1 Speed: General Fault.
I have read most of the comments here regarding this matter and most comment saying is normal to happen specially in cold weather or if the battery not fully charged.
I took the car for a short ride yesterday, the battery was showing 42days remaining which almost 80% charged and the signs come up again. Again car driving well, on both D and R with no issue.
I would appreciate your answer if you had this issue before.
Kind regards

I had transmission fault on my previous 650 occasionally - only a couple of times (3 years / 18k miles) and only when I was moving back and forwards a bit on the driveway.
I can't remember if I've had it on my current 650.
But it sounds different for you - if it was happening fairly often - while driving - I'd be taking it to the dealer, especially when under warranty

Is your local garage capable of reading all the detail of McLaren codes? Some codes are "generic" and can be read by anything while other codes are specific to individual manufacturers. For what it's worth the internet suggests, "The McLaren MDS Official Diagnostic Tool Kit is an indispensable resource for any McLaren technician. This kit includes a certified VCI and a robust Panasonic CF-D series laptop pre-installed with the original McLaren diagnostic software, version 18.0.0.0056. It facilitates comprehensive diagnostics, software updates, coding, programming, and the adaptation of new parts for all McLaren models."
I guess the key words are "McLaren diagnostic software". Cost of getting it look significant.
It does not look right compare to what I have read on forums. I have contacted Mclaren and will get it booked.
I think my friend has a Mclaren OBD because he did choose Mclaren Icon in order to diagnose it.
Mclaren said to me today that it could be something or nothing. I think that in my opinion is a replacement of the input and output ring which I have no idea how much they are going to charge for it.
I have heard it is a one hour labour plus parts. I dont know , has anyone been there before ?
