Idly browsing the Swiss version of autotrader last night, this caught my eye.

https://autoscout24.ch/de/11744261?utm_source=app_...

As it’s just down the road from me, we swung by to take a look at it this afternoon. What a fantastic colour and pretty much fully loaded from what I can see. Dealer is going to get back to me on Monday regarding a test drive.

There are a few issues though…
- It’s reserved, but no deal has been done, so guessing I’ll need to move quickly
- One of the few options it doesn’t appear to have (I forgot to check and can’t make it out from the interior photos), despite all the exterior carbon is the lift. Is it something I’m going to miss?
- Just sitting in it, afterwards my OH said that the seat was uncomfortable. Is it just plug and play to swap the passenger seat for this? https://www.apexspares.com/products/genuine-mclare...

Sadly these haven’t depreciated on the continent like they have in the UK. I checked prices in a few other countries too and it’s in line.

It states in the advert that it has lift system and security pack or am I missing something?

Thanks. I’ve just read the dealer description again and it says it has lift. In the advert it has the security pack and mentions a vehicle lift in German as a sub item. Somehow I was looking for it in the main equipment list and as a “Lift Systeme” as it’s normally called. Ok that’s one issue solved biggrin

If you believe the trolls on here that's a prerequisite for McLaren ownership smile

Yes, I think the seat should just swap in.

Fitting an electric heated seat I think needs coding, but manual to manual (like the advertised seat in your link) should be fine.

Seems like the seats are coveted! Guys I'm in Switzerland. I'm sure even buying the Apex Spares one is going to be a logistical/expensive nightmare. I favour a cushion laugh

If I do swap it out, it would only be the passenger seat and I'd store it, otherwise I'll never be able to sell the car. Seat felt fine to me.

In the meantime my OH has told me that if I want it to just buy it and she doesn't need to come on a test drive. Her diary is packed during the week, Swiss dealers aren't known for wanting to work out of hours for a sale and it seems I need to beat someone else to the punch. Thing is I bought an Exige without her coming along for a test drive and she hated getting in and out of it, so never wanted to go anywhere in it. A repeat performance at 3x the price would not be ideal! Will need to wait until Saturday and hope that the other interested party isn't that interested.

Biggest concern apart from the seat is the reviews and online all seem to say it's boosty and lifeless under 3500 rpm. I usually prefer NA in my fun cars.

There is a bit of old school lag initially if you are in a higher gear, but you can liven up the process by being on the paddle shift yourself if you want. Once they come on boost its relentless and giggle inducing power. Very deceptively fast cars.

I don't find the ingress/egress bad, the door takes a chunk of width out of the sill when it opens and the sill is lower at the front than the 12C/650. It's worth making sure the door is open all the way before trying to get in. My wife is fine with my 570GT FWIW, and it's the same door opening just slightly different seats (comfort). I don't think ingress is as extreme as an Exige from what I've heard, which really was the fruit of a bunch of twentysomething engineering grads given free reign to create the car they wanted to own themselves.

Worth bearing in mind that the engine spins to over 8,000 rpm, so you've still got a pretty broad powerband to use, and the paddleshift gives you nearly instant access to it. When you're 'on it', it's pretty easy to keep the power flowing with the gears, and part of the fun. You do need to slightly anticipate going from dawdling to blasting to get it into the right gear, but not as much as if you had a manual change. See what you think on the test drive, just make sure to have a decent go in manual mode.

I had a VX220 so basically the same as getting in and out an Exige/Elise, getting in and out my 570s with the P1's was a breeze in comparison to the Lotus/Vauxhall, it really isnt compromised at all and the P1's are so comfortable, nothing like you would imagine for a fixed back bucket seat.

Thanks guys. We already did the getting in and out test on Saturday. I purposely didn't mention anything about the sills until we got home and she had no idea what I was talking about with the McL, so all good on that front. She also didn't notice it was a Spider with the roof down rofl She did tell me that the seat was uncomfortable though. When comparing to the Exige, what I meant was even with permission to buy, it's important to make sure she will go out in it before purchasing!

Test drives here are normally a decent length (and unaccompanied) and I have a good mix of country roads, motorway and tunnels to use. Will also double check that there are no issues opening the door in the garage. I understand that it doesn't swing out as far as a conventional door and I'm sure the garage is tall enough, but it would be a bit of a schoolboy error not to double-check in advance!

There are some adjustments you can make on the P1 mounting points, mainly height and tilt angle if that helps. Good luck, I'm sure you won't be unhappy, incredible cars.

Forgive my ignorance... what are the wing louvres? Pretty much everything apart from the roof appears to be carbon or painted.
