Newbie question, is there a preferred insurer for McLaren and does it help to join any owners club to get a better premium (limited mileage, not main car)?

Thank you

You'll get split answers.

Some people will tell you that you get what you pay for, should never insure a car like that with cheap insurance and you should choose a specialist.

Meanwhile, plenty of us are happy with Admiral - including after making claims with them.

I don't think MOC gets insurance discounts anywhere

I’m Admiral. Don’t know if they are good or not. They were the cheapest when my renewal came around.

Not a McLaren, but my Porsche is insured with Admiral and was written off in a large accident 8 weeks ago when hit by another Admiral insured driver.
I had my claim closed on my own policy within 12 hours; everything agreed against the other drivers insurance. Equivalent hire car delivered within 24 hours at a cost of £280per day for them. They voluntarily offered this before I even asked. All dealt with by Uk in-house claims team who were absolutely superb and considerate given the upsetting circumstances of the crash. Immediately agreed for the car to be taken to my chosen Porsche approved repairer for assessment with it collected from the police nominated recovery firm to the repairer within 48 hours. Immediately clear that going to be a write off.
They offered a figure which was a few thousand shy of what I was hoping but they suggested going for an independent valuation, given the high spec of my car. This took c 4 days, but the resilt was an increased offer of an additional £18k, which was more than reasonable. Monies received in full within 2 working days.
My own policy just happened to renew 3 weeks later and my like for like premium on replacement vehicle has actually come down £80 per annum.
Just my experience……

My experience was very similar - although they used independent valuation without me asking, and they offered me more than I expected as a result
