Morning all, My 720s is due 6 year service and I'd much rather take it to V than McNF. Whattsapp group been helpful so far and I believe that legally as long as the car serviced properly with OEM parts my warrant will remain valid. Does anyone actually have any experience of making a claim after using an Indi though?

Don't have the experience you requested but fairly sure V-engineering have direct Mclaren factory support, which may increase the chance of a positive answer to your question.

I don't think that's true.

If your car was within the original manufacturers warranty period - that's true.

But once outside that, you agree to the extended warranty terms - and I thought that specified servicing at an official dealer. Within reason (obviously keeping to contract law) the extended warranty can enforce any terms they like - because if you don't like it, you don't need to have it.

Exact wording from warranty is below - so would V-Engineering be considered an Authorised Service Centre I wonder?

IMPORTANT: In order to maintain your Vehicle in good condition we strongly
recommend that it is regularly serviced by your supplying retailer or by any other
McLaren Retailer / Authorised Service Centre.
Please ensure you understand the current service schedule and requirements.

strongly recommend is not the same as MUST

therefore that reads to me that they cannot enforce servicing at McLaren centre in court, else they would have said it must

therefore I would read that you would be fine taking it to an established specialist using OEM parts to the OEM schedule

That's my take on it too

Keep it under McLaren service history like it probably has for the last 6 years, car will be worth more when you want to move it on

i'd value V over or at least equal to Mclaren.

Perhaps as an owner and subsequently as a seller but you might not find the same opinion shared by as many buyers. Not saying it's right, but I suspect it is what it is. Whether that matters in any individual case is a personal thing.

Check your own wording, but Extended Warranty mandates a dealer.

I'm wondering if there are different T&Cs out there. I emailed yesterday and they sent back my T&Cs and this is what mine says

Wondering,,, have you ever had a car serviced at McLaren to make that statement ? Your car have a warranty on it ??

I also think the Factory warranty terms and conditions are different to the CCP ones, servicing outside the dealership could very well void any warranty claim,,

I personally discounted looking at any cars without full mclaren history and warranty in place purely for the "peace of mind" that brought as we are a long distance from any known indy. Rightly or wrongly if you keep it in their warranty you are generally covered for all the major wallet breaking repairs if an engine or box let's go etc.

I also then discounted Thorney cars on SOR as they are perhaps £10k over the odds on pricing, I managed to buy a 2019 car privately for the same price as a 2017/18 car elsewhere.
Plenty of people are happy to buy cars outside of the network so it's horses for courses really, personal choice.
Edit to add mclaren have dropped their 570s warranty price to £2.7k pa so it's very competitive with aftermarket issuers.

if they were half smart, they'd sell it as a warranty and service package, slightly in a toyota way. £3k for a service but gives you a years warranty.
