Hi I have a 2019 570S (convertible)

at the recent service they noticed some small paint bubbling on the horizontal piece of trim behind the drivers door.

I asked for this to be resolved under warranty as this was just inside the 5 years since car first registered.

The warranty have responded that this 'part' only comes with a 3 year warranty.

There is nothing in the warranty documentation that differentiates between different parts - just that paint blemish is 3 years and for cosmetic corrosion (cosmetic corrosion is defined as light oxidisation of the surface finish of components) 5 years, which is what I believe it is, having seen and read much of Mc paint issues over the last few years.

The piece on the passenger side is also starting to bubble.

They want a grand to resolve - the part is removable - on only 30cm long of which 15cm has the issue.

Any thoughts / help ?

I would find it difficult to believe that you could find anyone not motivated by money to agree that that isnt surface corrosion, and is in fact a very convenient "paint blemish".

The 3 year paint blemish is new to me, I thought it was all covered for 5 years, out of interest which dealership have you taken it to ?

Of course that’s entirely up to you, it’s just some dealers seem to be more proactive than others at getting work done under warranty

Is this the warranty company, or client services..

The later can be contacted on +44 1483 357900, might want to check for goodwill.

I am currently progressing via service manager who is then dealing with warranty company.

Can I speak to client services direct as I am 4 weeks into this with no progress?

Yep that's got to be covered under the 5 year warranty which in its self is a piss take being so short.

Very well documented issue with legions of other people you could demonstrate have had it covered.

Not really thought about this to much but is the paintwork covered by McLaren after 3/5years or Car Care Plan ??

Is this the original warranty supplied by Mclaren from when you bought the car or is it now the extended warranty? I had mine covered as goodwill but only because the dealers would not take responsibility but that was with dealer supplied warranty not the renewal company.
