Anyone going to this, organised by McLaren owners club. Also able to use it as a track day for £1095

Yes, I’ll be going. Have you been before? We last went to the one in 2021 which had a couple of Lewis Hamilton’s cars running as well as an F1. Amanda McLaren and Bruno Senna were there as ambassadors. It should be interesting to see what demonstrations they run this year.

Is it worth going without the track action? £250 quid for the day?

I’ve booked on.

They are overpriced at £1,195, although a £100 off through MOC.

Well run with McLaren techs on hand and track time is excellent and often very empty as many folks do few laps and just savour the ambience and cappuccino.

For the first time on track in a Mac, it is a good experience.

Can’t really comment on the parade etc as although I’ve done 2 previously i wasn’t really involved in the other stuff

Do they have instructors there or just techs?

You get one session included with a driver coach. There’s also the option to pay extra to have an instructor all day.

Realistically this is a one make car show with catering then for £250? Do you get passenger rides in anything around Silverstone as part of the deal?

I've done it twice; 2021 and 2022.

Sit down lunch, pit access, plenty of refreshments, and a couple or more laps of the track; some slow, some less so.
Didn't go last year, unsure about this year.
Only you can decide if it's good value, or you are subsidising the pure event for others..

It’s a McLaren bargain. If you take your Solus GT to the trackday on the day before they’ll only charge you £20k + vat !

I'll go and do the track day also, I would imagine the track will be a safer environment with fellow owners rather than people going a bit mad wanting to "bag a McLaren" in a dodgy overtake or late brake

For me that’s the main benefit, fellow owners are respectful and won’t aggressively follow you around on track at high speed to get their perfect tictok instagram race videos.

Still a very expensive trackday though compared to some of the high end trackdays where you won't have that issue generally. Did the issue of pre and post trackday mclaren inspections get resolved out of interest?

Seems a few days at "exclusive" venues are over £650 now, Brands Gp, noisy day at Goodwood, infact just looked, Silverstone GP on the 17th June £999 on trackdays.co.uk so maybe not all that expensive considering you will have a pretty low numbers day on track.

Never had any issues on a "normal" Silverstone GP day in regards to people trying dodgy overtakes. If you're in a sports/super series McLaren there's an extremely high chance you'll be nowhere near the most "attractive" car to overtake for bragging rights biggrin

Regarding track inspections, I'm fairly certain you are still required to have the pre & post track inspections which is why I opted for a "normal" Silverstone day for £629.

In theory can mclaren check/interrogate the ecu to highlight "track" biased driving and locations for warranty purposes if needed if you did happen to stray onto Donnington GP circuit for instance while looking for parking at East Midlands Airport ? :-)

I dont believe its possible, the only way they will know is from evidence of track driving, i.e scrubbed up tyres, rubber debris on the underside and possible number plates if someone happens to post photos or videos on social media. A tracker might have the data but its not available to Mclaren.

I would also like to see it stand up in court if they refused a warranty claim without definitive evidence (photos/videos) but i dont believe they can get data from the ecu.

The inspections should be way more cost effective imho, 30 mins to check over fluid levels and brake/tyre condition is all thats really needed, even though brakes are not covered under warranty, perhaps thats something more people would be interested in for our own peace of mind.

I'd like to do it, however the cost seems a bit nuts.

can you just do the day without inspections(I can check my own tyre pressures!).

Its this or 5x motorbike days.

For this particular event, it's a McLaren Pure day - i.e. organised by McLaren - so it wouldn't be that difficult for them to note the cars on the track - and correlate that against inspections if a subsequent large warranty claim took place.
