Thoughts on this 570S
Discussion
Hi all, I'm considering a change (though not 100% yet) from my AMG GTC to a 570 and really like the look of this Spider;

Just after thoughts really on price, spec etc - is it missing any essentials?
It will have remaining Mac warranty which is good for future extensions but I wouldn't mind some thoughts on the car overall as they are totally alien to me at present

I'm looking for my first McLaren currently as well. Judging by a lot of topics on here, the message seems to be to buy the spec you like; make sure it has nose lift; and make sure it has a warranty. A lot of people will recommend an inspection by Thorney or V-Engineering as well. Apparently white can be tougher for resale as people like the more jazzy colours. Have you driven one yet? I tried one more or less back-to-back with a 650S and found the latter more comfortable seat-wise, though it wouldn't put me off buying a 570S. The price looks favourable compared to the main dealer Spiders currently. Not sure if any of that is helpful!

Regarding the McLaren warranty is the car on SOR rather than owned by the dealer? https://www.johnhollandsales.co.uk/stock-list/1783...

Get the car inspected by either McLaren or V engineering / Thorney.
Check for corrosion and cracked door hinges.
The cars are reliable despite what the internet will tell you. I’ve driven 22,000 miles in various McLarens in all sorts of weathers and have never been let down. Just make sure you use them and don’t let them sit for months on end.
Also advertised https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202404269... showing first registration date of 30th April 2019 and first advertised on Friday.
Good points
+ Brake disc condition looks good
+ Forged wheels (the second-lightest type)
+ On Michelins
+ Nose lift
+ Extended gearchange paddles
+ Mileage for year looks suitable (neither too low nor too high)
Less good points
- Doesn't have 12 speaker audio
- No external carbon fibre (not so common on Sports Series though)
- White tends to be lowest value (5 of the 6 cheapest 570 Spiders are white)
I'd say the spec is typical, not missing any essentials.
I agree it seems decently priced for the year and mileage. Interior is a personal preference, I think it carries the black and white theme quite nicely.

If interested, ask for the registration and google image search it, plus MoT history just to see if it's been sat little-used lately.
I'd recommend V Engineering in Thatcham for a PPI (The main dealer one I had wasn't that informative).
Just as an approved used comparison, McManc have a Curacao Blue 2018 for £105k (no photos yet but URL suggests colour), if you value the 12m warranty at around £5k and considering the slightly higher spec then it could be worth consideration

Interior would be marmite when you come to sell eventually. JH generally have a good rep. It's a bit basic interior, and you'd have to find out if mclaren warranty comes through with it being sold via non mclaren dealers. I'd personally look for something a bit tastier in a 570s. https://www.johnhollandsales.co.uk/stock-list/1783...

Thanks all so far. Noted on the white but I actually quote like the colour, my GTC is white
Not fussed on exterior carbon as I just see it as way to expensive versus easy to damage.
Think I need to find a local one to test drive
In that case I don't see anything wrong with the example mentioned.

Potentially worth going to a main dealer and expressing interest there, I guess you may get a slightly longer test drive a bit more easily with them, you can also talk through servicing costs or things to look for. London, Ascot and Hatfield seem to have Spiders you could go and look at and potentially get a drive in.

15k over priced? Maybe a bit more? https://www.johnhollandsales.co.uk/stock-list/1783...

Cheapest 570S Spider on AT is £88k, with 35k miles on.https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202402036...
so I think the JH car posted originally looks in line with the market, as anything cheaper is over 20k miles and many of them are also older.
Actually it's an interesting example of the cost of mileage - the above Spider was registered on the same day, same colour, same wheels; the main difference is that it's done 35k instead of 15k miles, and is asking £88k vs £100k.

I guess you wouldnt be looking at white if you didnt like it, but, as others have said, when it comes time to sell you will be at the bottom of the market, along with no carbon, with a fair few others, so long as your ok with that and in no rush, its always worth consideration if you need to get out quickly. Not fussed on exterior carbon as I just see it as way to expensive versus easy to damage.

I had a GTC coupe which I loved, I bought a 570S Spider last year and love that even more. The drive is so much more engaging (steering+feel), the car so much more agile (lighter/stiffer) and you don't really compromise much on comfort with the comfort (electric/heated) seats. If you've ever driven a Lotus Elise/Exige and loved the handling, then the 570 is like its younger, fitter, stronger brother. https://www.johnhollandsales.co.uk/stock-list/1783...

Plus the doors, great except for parking in tight spaces. As has been mentioned check the hinges for cracks, mine were both cracked when I collected it. It is in for the upgrade to the GT hinges now. Expensive to replace out of warranty, revised GT hinge not known to fail like the original.
Colour and spec is always personal, mine is technically white (Muriwai White) but looks baby blue. I personally don't like the vivid orange/yellow/greens but equally feel the darker colours hide the sculptured bodywork detail. I've only got carbon mirrors but had the same thought as you, easy to damage (I daily the car) and expensive to repair.
Nose lift is a must as these are low but in my experience you will still hit the chin occassionaly (no time to lift the nose b-road blasting) so I'm glad its not CF!
I like the upgraded sound system but haven't tried the stock one. Will be looking at after market carplay options if McLaren don't make the new system from the 750S available as has been suggested online.
650S/7x0S are amazing cars but the 570S/600LT are a better size for the UK b-roads, plus less McTechnical bits to go wrong which is reflected in the cheaper warranty prices. Power wise, again 570/600ps in a car that weighs under 1500kg on the road (and most UK tracks) is plenty to keep you grinning from ear to ear.
