12C prices on the up?
Discussion
I've been looking at 12Cs since the beginning of the year, started a thread about the prices of 12Cs vs 650Ss - https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...
Up to about June this year, 12Cs seemed to be changing hands pretty regularly. Since then, it's pretty much been the same cars on the market. This particular car, if I recall correctly, has been for sale since the beginning of the year and IMHO is way overpriced.

Well, it’s that or this 720S from a McLaren dealer…https://www.pistonheads.com/buy/listing/15473938
That does seem odd, the 12C isn’t on their website.
Saw this on collecting cars, it’s on for £65K on auto trader and I think got to £51K plus fees but was unsold https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2013-mclaren-1...
“High” mileage, but probably a better reflection of the market than the riverside car

As a 12c owner for nearly 2 years, I’ve been looking at the prices for nearly 3 years. More cars for sale recently (was 24 on Autotrader) than previously. Asking prices are down about £10-12k over past 3 years. Low depreciation compared to many/most others of the type.
The price of this car is clearly daft and only a fool would pay anything like that price.
If I were still looking, I’d consider it a buyers’ market just now. Who knows what 2024 will bring but my guess is that prices across the market will rise a little in the Spring (except EVs which will continue to fall at an alarming rate).

When interest rates start coming down in 2024 then prices will start to increase imo.
As per the usual, prices will go up very early spring (march ish) which will be helped by interest rate cuts in bound, if inflatioin keeps falling people will jump and refinance when the rates start coming down. This one https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2011-mclaren-m... sold on collecting cars for a shade under £56K including fees. Seemed like it was well maintained but needed a bit of work doing to it according to V engineering. I know CC isn’t “the market” and some people are put off by an auction platform, but maybe it’s a good indication of where people value the cars and maybe this is why there are several cars on AT that have just stuck around for ages.

Or it was an absolute dog (as mentioned above) and not even a dealer wanted to take a punt, its pretty obvious this isnt representative of the market or peoples "values". As always the ones sat on the market are usually budget spec and poor colours, especially during the depths of winter.
If that's the going rate for an average condition 20k miler then where would that put the cars that have sat round all year with double that mileage which are very likely to be in similar or worse condition ie. that haven't had the same level of paint rectification that most McLarens inevitably suffer from.

There was 2, a red one and a black one,
No I don’t know the details my missus mentioned that she saw the auction on tiktok and forwarded the videos
I am familiar with the black one.No I don’t know the details my missus mentioned that she saw the auction on tiktok and forwarded the videos
Used as a near daily for maybe 4 years, was looked after but high miles.
Then via circumstances it ended up going through a steady stream of users ragging it.
I actually expected to hear about it wrapped around a tree or burnt out.
Still an utter bargain compared to what else you would get for that cash.
