This is going to be a really daft question.

It looks like the connector on the end of the Mclaren charger is joined by a bog standard Ctek connector, so I am guessing there is no reason I can't just insert and extender in the middle?

It is a CTEK charger, so yes, you can.

If you don't know, then it's not a daft question. You did right by asking in my book.

McLaren chargers are made by CTEK.

I got one for another car. The plug was on the passenger side, so the extension meant I could exit drivers side where all the space is.

Was reasonably cheap.

Has anyones McLaren CTEK become faulty?

I had a strange situation where the charger is showing fully charged but car was telling me low battery.

I have another CTEK lithium xs which I use for my exige, plugged that in and the indicator showed only at the third stage for over 1 hour so likely the battery was low.

Is there a reset procedure for the charger?

One of dealers told me you should regularly press the rear button for that very reason.

To be honest that seemed a bit la la and defeats the whole point of the charger.

Maybe just turn it off for a few minutes every few weeks, which also seems a bit la la to me.

What is the rear button on these chargers?

On the back of the "box" is just a flat surface, mine has a label saying "B64". I can't see a button anyhwere.

My B64 has a reset button it’s round on the left hand side front and or switch the mains plug on and off again so the units starts a new cycle in bulk mode 14.4v before dropping to 13.8v float.

Sorry it was either a fat finger or more probably auto correct messing with what I meant.

I meant the dealer said you should press the “reset” button regularly. Struck me as odd.

I have the front reset button which appears to be the only button on it. No rear button however.

It may be that older Lithium chargers do a Bulk Absorption Float cycle and then sit at 13.8v and the battery slowly loses %.
To solve this issue later chargers have a Re-Bulk timer that resets to the Bulk voltage of 14.4v every 8 days approx and the cycle starts again.
On the older charger you need to manually start a bulk cycle by pressing the reset til the bulk light comes on or turning off the power, wait 30 seconds and power up again.
The reason the % goes down is because the BMS inside the battery slowly uses power, I personally think the % meters are very inaccurate at measuring this micro discharge however I’m not risking a £3k battery so I push the button every 2 weeks.
