I know some 30 something journos often don't quite get this car but it seems absolutely perfect for me – sexier, lighter, tighter and more fierce than all (?) other sub 200k GT’s but without making it all a bit too much!.

Some phone pics:

Now the Mc questions start!

Can you make the exhaust loud permanently without needing sport or track modes – like pulling fuse 22 in an Aston or adding a switch…

Insurance
Who likes insuring them? Will Admiral pop it on the multicar I wonder?

Anyone PPF’d this gorgeousness:

Seems like a no brainer to do as it does for this:

Seatbelts are so boring black – any quality 100% safe option to swop for blue (like get the Porsche material and swop) as Mc don't do blue?

Sorry to gush but isnt it just the D's B's!

Cheers for any answers above - especially insurance.

Glorious.

I insure through Elephant so being the sister company of Admiral I'm sure they'll be competitive.

I wish it was porcelain inside but the car is more carbon obsessed than Just Stop Oil so it had to be done.party

Excellent that Admiral group may do it on my multicar. I always joke to drive the 2 miles down to their HQ and get stroppy over any dodgy quotes and it usually works well biggrin

Lovely car is that Paris Blue ? I have my 600LT Spider with Admiral on multicar but it took an inordinate amount of haggling involving adding a tracker and a secure garage overnight to get the premium down to what it was the previous term …and that was also maxing out the multicar discounts. Unfortunately it seems car insurance companies are taking the absolute p1ss this year on renewal .

Stunning spec, was it spec’d by a private owner or ex McL car?
Very rare to see such a nice GT

we have three cars on admiral multicar
premium increased 32% this year, with no claims or changes
threatened to go elsewhere and the increase was better than halved
absolute piss take : caveat emptor !

I wouldnt insure a wheel barrow with Admiral !!
They are cheap for a reason, You only find out how good an insurance company is when you have to claim. Far better off using a specialist performance car insurer may be a higher premium but they know what they are insuring

Well done, lovely looking car. My Paris blue 600LT is insured with Admiral.

Not aware of any easy trick for keeping the exhaust vales open. For seat belts, I'd have thought MSO would probably sort you out - at a price! ISTR the company that does some of the MSO stuff will do custom colours for seat belts, one of the 600LT owners had some lime green ones made up.

I think this is the car I saw in the Sub5 Whatsapp?

Quite.

I did claim, and I did find out how good they were. Paid out a very reasonable - if not a tad high - on my car, which allowed me to replace the car, from a dealer - with one that was 2 years newer and lower mileage - without me adding a penny.
They don't need to "know what they're insuring" - for cars like this, they obtain bespoke valuations when you make a claim. Which in my case, was higher than the value I'd told them a couple of weeks before.
Their approved bodyshop was an authorised McLaren bodyshop.,

I'm sure there are people who have had unhappy claim experiences with Admiral (and I'm sure that's true of other insurers too) - but they did absolutely what they should have done with mine.

I wonder what a "specialist" insurer would have done differently in my claim?

(And despite the premium increasing this year, that seems to be mostly because of general price rises and not due to the large sum they paid me last year). No complaints from me - as somebody who has actually claimed from them.

Admiral also have the advantage that they do not insist that my car is garaged, or has tracker.

Beautiful car, really stunning.

Can't help with the insurance or ppf questions, but I've seen a few people get these seatbelts and they really lift the interior and are high quality.

Not sure where you are in the country but might be an excuse for a road trip to get them to fit for you too

It is - they may forgive me for taking an EV on a hoon now and being all over the M3's biggrin

Great info on the insurance - many thanks.

I'd only be happy with a known solid brand (non Chinese import) seatbelt so may leave well alone - dealer said MSO don't do blue as dev costs per colour are hugeeek. Configurator shows only black or cream.

Congrats, beautiful car. I am also of partial AM / EV persuasion.

Regarding the fuse 22 question, not sure of the set up of the GT but I had thought Mac exhaust sound levels were externally the same in all modes. However, there is “Intake Sound Generator” fakery which is not to my taste, that can be programmed for all modes.
