I had an e mail today stating that as of August 1st Mclaren roadside assistance will no longer be included in the warranty package. If you still want it included you would need to renew your warranty before the 1st August. Are Mclaren just trying to piss their customers off.

Is that an official communication? “There extended warranty”? There?

That's quite a big loss - because it wasn't really just "roadside". I had a McLaren specialist on my driveway once sorting out the fact that the dash was lit up like a Christmas tree after the battery had gone flat, and loads of stuff didn't work (windscreen wipers etc.). Although his solution was ultimately one I could have done (disconnect the battery) - I think it was a very valuable part of the warranty package.

It does reinforce the fact that I'm correct to be keeping my £5k in the bank each year though!

We’ll if true I hope they’ve knocked the cost of the recovery off the extended warranty price ??

If the price is still the same I will probably go elsewhere for warranty as mine will be 5k this year.

Roadside assistance is provided by the AA anyway. which I have for my other cars, so always had double protection and at around £100pa its pretty insignificant compared to £5,000 overall cost. I guess with inflation that's one way of keeping cost at £5k instead of increasing. I wonder if they still come out to your home? is it just roadside?

I’ve just done mine this week. It’s not up until next March but as the car is 5 years old in September it was cheaper by £600 to warranty it now. As for break down I will still get mine from McLaren this time but I have had the AA for the last 20 years to cover my other cars as well. It’s annoying but not that expensive to get it from elsewhere.

I got the email myself today. It implies that the warranty price will go down as a result - if that's true, it doesn't seem a bad thing to me

Wouldn't touch the AA with a barge pole.
They did £20k damage to my 650S spider moving it from one flat bed transporter to another as the drivers time was up and then denied everything.

As I had not videoed the entire car inc undernath the carbon fibre front splitter and rear diffuser before loading I couldn't prove it was them but I know it was .
They even broke the emergency front bonnet release cable when the battery was flat and put it back with zip ties.

Absolutely disgraceful as they all closed rank, made up stories and denied any of it happened

Sorry to read that.

It is worth noting that if you are having a car transported by the AA, RAC and other roadside recovery companies, sometimes they will split the journey.

In my case, I was having a car transported from the south of England to Berkshire and discovered the collecting driver was not taking it to the destination. Instead he was dropping it off at Newbury services, leaving it overnight in the car park (!!) and a different driver was collecting it for the following day.

This may have been because it was a late pickup though but regardless, I arranged the delivery for another day. In future, I’d probably pay the extra for a dedicated, independent transport company

Some time back I was told by McLaren to call roadside assistance for what sounded like a misfire on start up and I didn't wish to drive it (turned out to be cam phasers which have since been replaced). Anyway, it was a guy in an AA van that turned up though he was a McLaren specialist apparently employed by them. I have yet to receive the message as mine runs out in November but, I've had everything done; Phasers, Brand new gearbox, suspension actuators along with other bits so doubt I'll be renewing. I must say at this point that I have personally found McLaren client services to be absolutely 'top notch' and cannot fault them as they looked after me very well.
