wonder what the story is with this 570GT?

Last serviced in march 2023 @ 10207 miles
Last V5 change in march 2023
its now done 22251, so 12000 miles in 4 months, but is now sorn .
So looks like someone bought it freshly serviced 4 months ago and then drove it a lot, has now sorn it and put it up for auction, seems strange to me.
I notice in the comments on the auction, someone has questioned this ,and the seller responded saying it had been used for long road trips.
Just seems odd the seller wouldn't service it before putting it up for sale. Surely a new service would give potential buyers peace of mind and increase its value by more than the cost of a service?

Unusual perhaps but not worrisome IMO.
I did 2000 miles in 6 days without feeling like I'd done a ridiculous amount of driving. Sounds to me like someone wanted to do a mega road trip and either wanted to do it in something special or didn't want to put the miles on another car they owned but still wanted to do the trip in something exotic so bought a car for that specific purpose.
12k miles in 3 months is a fairly sedate road trip around Europe - down the West coast of France into Spain, down through Portugal, up and across the Pyrenees, through the South of France into Northern Italy before heading up through Switzerland, across into Austria before heading North into Germany and perhaps up into the Baltics or Nordics before heading home. 12k miles potentially quite easily there, and 3 months is a long time to do that trip in.
It is definitely due a service now though, which any buyer should factor into the sale.

Person buys car, drives it for 12000 miles, then sticks it on an auction site for a quick sale 4 months later. Not necessarily dodgy, but I'd proceed with caution. Could be someone that just wanted to live out a European road trip dream, put thousands of easy motorway miles on it, ticked the box and now doesn't need the car.
That said, these have variable service intervals and McLaren don't list an explicit mileage, but various franchise dealers list every 10000 miles as a baseline. At the very, very least I'd want to see a shot of the time until the next service interval from the vehicle information screen. If it is due a service, which seems likely, or worse is overdue a service, then that is a massive red flag.
You don't want to be the one who buys this car, has to pay thousands upfront to CC, then get there and find the car should have been serviced 500 miles ago, wasn't because it needs a load of work, but you can't back out without losing the fee.

To echo the above, I did 2000+ miles on the continent in a bit under two weeks. If I had the time and money, I'd happily do 10k in four months.
It clearly wants a service, but I'm not sure I'd necessarily be worried by that per se.
In terms of having a load of issues and outstanding work, that could be true of any car. Which is why I wouldn't buy any McLaren without a good PPI (probably at V Engineering), which is probably why I wouldn't buy any McLaren at auction. But then the price may (or may not) fairly reflect that risk.

Averaging 100 miles a day sounds like it was used for supercar rentals. If that’s the case I’d avoid it like the plague! Can you request a copy of the v5?
A rental supercar might rack up 100 miles a day while it's on hire, but I can't imagine it getting anywhere near 100% utilisation. It would also be odd to de-fleet in July, in the middle of peak supercar rental season.samoht said:
Apparently bid up to £66,555 (so real price of £71,347 inc fees) but didn't make the (lowered) reserve.
Yeh I watched end of auction.I was thinking it’s worth £70000 tops, taking into account it had marks on bodywork, needed a service etc. I needs at least another £10k spending on it, and that’s if there’s nothing mechanically wrong with it.

how did you get to the £10k extra needed on it , do you think?I was thinking it’s worth £70000 tops, taking into account it had marks on bodywork, needed a service etc. I needs at least another £10k spending on it, and that’s if there’s nothing mechanically wrong with it.

Id assume because the car had only done 10000miles when it was last mot'd and serviced, and nothing has been done since, stuff like brake pads, gearbox oil and filter, clutch oil and filter, air filters etc ,will all be original and need changing. Personally, if I bought this id want the whole car going over and everything changing so I knew where i was with maintenance from start of ownership .it needs paintwork, theres various scuffs around it , that could be £1000.
No mention of the state of the tires, so assume it needs new ones, another £1000.
It obviously needs a professional detail, im guessing £500 ?
Needs a full service, £650.
Warranty, £3000.
Cost of other service items as mentioned, gearbox oil/filter, clutch oil/filter, brake pads ,coolant, brake fluid etc etc, £2000
Thats £8150 straight away, add the cost of transporting it to a mclaren specialist (i wouldnt want to drive it before the car had been totally checked out), and a bit of extra money for anything unforseen , and it could easily be £10000 on top of purchase price.
For all that hassle, it needs to be quite a bit cheaper than just going and thorney and buying the pretty much identical car they are currently selling for £93000 and having complete peace of mind.
Spotted in Paris, Frankfurt and Wolfsburg….
