I know the production of this car has now started but I can't get a damn dealer to give me a pricelist without going into a branch... estimates from the press say upwards of 250K but this much is obvious with the 720s being that price and this being its sucessor... Has ANYONE managed to get a UK price from a dealer or am I just beating my head against a brick wall without having to actually go in?

Probably best asking on the McLaren subforum https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/forum.asp?h=0&... as some ppl there have one on order. One poster mentioned 340ish for a high-spec 750 Spider.

I have an order in. And a pricelist (for the spider).

Base car is £269,160 including delivery fee. My spec is £328,844.98.

Thank you so much, that's spot on what I was expecting so no unnecessary surprises! What made you go Spider over Coupe? I've submitted an ideal spec but not had anything back as of yet. Interested to see what the carbon load I've put on comes out as - that's non negiotable!

Had a good look round one yesterday at the SCD meet.

Looks really nice. Externally id struggle on the road to tell the difference but inside seemed a nice upgrade!

I had a 720 coupe. While I think the design of the coupe is better resolved in some ways, we went on a European tour with some other McLaren owners and everyone else had a spider. The weather was glorious and we got spider envy. So I've just (delivered today!) bought an interim 720 spider and the 750 order which preceded that was also for a drop-top. At the end of the day the opportunities for driving the coupe at 10/10ths where the marginal handling advantages come into play are basically non-existent (I have a separate track car before someone says "track days") while driving slowly in traffic or heavily enforced speed limits is an ever greater proportion of time behind the wheel, so being able to put the roof down and enjoy the sunshine seemed worthwhile. You do lose the additional space behind the seats, of which we made good use when touring, and the spider is slightly less airy in feel - thicker screen rail, no rear quarterlights etc. I think the electrochromic roof is an essential option for the spider, expensive though it is.

To add, I can tell you the option prices if you let me have your spec, at least based on the spider price list. But the dealer really should be doing that for you.

Thank you for the info, the space in the rear is the thing holding me back from Spider to Coupe at the moment... but cost/benefit analysis tells me I'd miss the space much less if I was bathed in sun! No need to add the pricing for the options - I've added a few questionables so the options load is a big one so far. You're totally right, it should be the dealer giving me a breakdown. I really appreciate the offer though, you've been incredibly helpful!

One last thing. I placed my firm order and sizeable deposit in early May having been in discussions with the dealer since launch day. I do not yet have a confirmed build slot (hence the interim spider). It's not clear how long the production run will be or how many slots will be available. I know that US production is already full sold out (or at least that's what the dealers are saying); slots are being offered for sale and dealers are asking for additional margin for cars. So you may want to brace for disappointment...

£330K is a large wedge above a nearly new low miles used 720S spider at £200k for what is a mild face-lift and updated AVN system.

1st year ownership from list price will be painful and only for the brave.
Can remember new 720S spiders being discounted to £230k at one stage

Indeed: https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

For me the appeal is getting exactly the spec I want. But is that worth £150k (which is the delta from what I've just paid for the interim 720 spider)? Or indeed the £170k-odd I expect I'll actually have to fork out come trade-in time? That's basically the price of another 720s spider. I mean, not that I actually want two 720s (close run thing, see other thread) but there's a lot of other things one could do with the cash, and even with the £100k or so that would be immediately incinerated on delivery.

I'll keep my deposit in for now, but I may be making a disappointing (for them) phone call to the dealer in the future.

TBH I would compromise on spec and hope 765LT spiders come within budget. If thats the case the financial pain would be far less being the rarer limited edition special LT car.
That said I just cant see 750S selling in any volume unless McLaren force production which will then result in residuals crashing.
Their biggest enemy and competitor is their own 720S at todays used car prices.

You would really really have to want a 750S to pay that premium and to me its not a big enough upgrade for the dosh

I can say that I don't want a 765. Too much pretend race car, not enough GT. My 750 spec is luxury interior, no louvres etc. I'm seeing the 750 at the FoS tomorrow and I'll see how I feel about it. I will of course also have a look at the Roma, and the DB12 and so on... And I'll be driving there in my new to me 720 spider; that may well continue to be enough car.

That does look good, and I know its very subtle changes, but personally prefer the 720s externally and internally.

It is obviously a 720s facelift so its going to look very similar, its not a brand new car like Artura.
