570GT - New Battery
Discussion
What’s the issue with the battery? I thought for sure I’d lost mine on a 650 but my friendly Mac assist brought it back to life and then it needed 72 hours on the trickle charge to be back to 100%. I understand they protect themselves by going into a deep sleep if the charge gets too low.
Could be worth talking to V-Engineering also, they recently posted on social media that of late they're seeing dead battery issues on number of cars, and problem solved with software update and charging battery (if necessary) with correct charger (that's actually working properly). https://www.v-engineering.co.uk/

Died twice in the space of 3 days. Got it to McLaren on limp-home mode. They had it on trickle charge for 3-4 days, but no sign of life.John-l3ycg said:

£2.5k?
Correct, sorry I don't have a prize. However AGM ones are nearer £300, and normal Lead Acid about half that.
And I suspect most owners could shed 8kg themselves for a lot less money

Bit of a no brainer really isn’t it, not like your losing anything important ..
If you fit a normal battery, you are. Battery monitoring won't work - which means windows won't drop slightly if the battery starts going flat - which means you won't be getting a door open without smashing glass. There is apparently an adaptor thing which means BMS still works with a normal battery, which I think somebody has linked to earlier. But without that, I wouldn't put a normal battery in one.
The irony here is that in the Fezza world, people are going on about how wonderful the Li-Ion tech is in the aftermarket batteries (because you don’t have to change AGMs every 2 years) and here you lot are complaining about the cost of Li-Ion battery replacement.
The grass is always greener on the other side. Because it’s covered in st.

Lithiums are very sensitive to cold, i had one on a previous track car and it "died" during a cold snap, wouldnt take a charge, by absolute chance i had bought the battery inside whilst i sourced a replacement (it was aftermarket).
I had checked the voltage when in the car and cant remember what it actually was but very low, but after a week inside in the warm, the voltage had increased slightly, put it on a trickle charge and came back to life, never had a problem again,
Worth a try op.

I have a bunch of EGO power tools with 56V Li-Ion batteries, and went to top one up for the leaf blower during the cold snap the other week and it showed as faulty. I put it in the blower and ran it for 5 min and it must have warmed it up being used, because when I went back in it charged as normal. I brought the other inside and it was fine.Gassing Station | McLaren | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
