Although most seem to comment that there's no disadvantage having a Spider over a Coupe given the rigidity of the carbon tub, apart from the obvious price difference, I've seen a couple of mentions of losing a bit of cabin space. I'm 6' 5" and generally need all the leg and head room I can get. I did drive a 570S Spider a couple of years ago, and don't recall it being cramped for me.

I'm probably leaning towards a 600LT, and presume the cabin/roof is identical to the 570S. I really don't want the Senna seats, but I suspect the P1 carbon seats would give me more room than the heated/electric sports seats?

Any lanky owners able to comment?

My recollection, which might not be exactly correct, is that there's little to no legroom difference between the two (unlike say a Huracan where there is a huge difference between them). The Spider has less headroom with the roof up than the coupe - I am only 6ft but I have the torso of a 6'4" man so I'm sensitive to seat-to-roof height more than most.

I think you'll probably be fine in either but you might struggle with a helmet on (as I do). The more buckety the seat the lower you sit so that will also make a difference.

There is a reduction in headroom although its not by much. I went through a very big testing session when buying my 600LT as I always struggle getting in cars with my Helmet on (ooer Missus!) I needed the P1 seats but fitted in either the coupe or Spider with P1s. I didn't try the helmet with Sennas as I had already ruled them out but I would imagine of anything they would be lower still than the P1. The worst combination was comfort seats and the Spider.

I'm around 6'6" / 6'7" and learnt the following whilst looking about:

- I'm ok in a 570s coupe provided it has the manual seats. This is what I ended up buying. These sit you a little lower than the the electric ones. Buckets are lower still but are too tight and generally uncomfortable for me.

- I can't fit in a 570s comfortably. When the roof is on, its a bit tight for headroom (NB did not manage to find a manual seat to try, but did try with bucket seats). When the roof is off the wind was blasting against my forehead (as opposed to ruffling my hair)

- 720s is a bit better but I haven't found one with manual seats to try yet

Pretty sure the passenger compartment is the same on all the cars isn't it?

Not sure these cars were designed with the taller person in mind, I’m 5 8” so will probably need a booster seat with a Senna smile

Thanks all, that's helpful, although it's obvious I'll need to go and try some out. At least the Spider doesn't seem to be a complete no no.

My recollection of driving the 570S Spider was that my head felt like it was in an OK position, although I only drove it with the roof down - I didn't feel terribly wind blasted and didn't find the upper screen frame was in my eyeline, which it is in some cars. And that had the sports seats I think. I've got a 36" inside leg so my body isn't all that long. I'm fine in my Cayman GT4 with a helmet on.

I've ruled out a 720S as it won't fit through my garage door with the mirrors extended.

I’m 6ft 4 and had no problem with the 720s spyder, thought it was very roomy.

I seem to recollect 570 being ok too, but have only sat in one.

Considered a 600lt spyder and that seemed ok. I have a recollection of the coupe being tight.

Where Mclarens really win is passenger leg room. There’s loads for us tallies

I'm 6'1" and had a 570 spider for two years, loved the car and found it to be very roomy. Now have a 720 spider for a year and it seems to have plenty of room. Mine has the glass roof...not sure if that adds headroom. I've never been in a coupe for comparison.
