McLaren 570s High pitch whining noise
Discussion
Hi all. So I've started contemplating swapping the 570 for a 720, and just watched a video on YouTube where the owner of a 720 mentioned a whining noise. So I thought why not come on here and see if anyone else has had the same problem.
It's an odd one, when I first drive the car it's fine. When I have driven for around 14-16 miles this quite loud whining noise starts. When I touch the throttle it stops altogether, but as soon as I take my foot off the throttle it's constant. Quite often it stops after a while but then comes back again. Also I've owned the car for 2.5 years. This started about 6 months ago.
Any ideas? Fuel pump, due to it being linked with throttle?

Does your car have nose lift?
Mine also has a whining noise, almost electrical in sound coming from behind the dash.
McLaren have confirmed it can be the module for the nose lift, they confirm it can be replaced but no guarantees it will be resolved. Just put it down to one of those little McLaren niggles that you manage.

Their facility looks great and pricing is reasonable compared to what we get hit with in the States. Many Macca dealers charge $1800-$2500USD for an annual service, which is outrageous for what amounts to an oil change and some checks. As much as I enjoy doing my own servicing, if we had choices like that or Thorney I would be tempted to drop my car off.
btw..... the whine is either the fuel pump or nose lift.
