Straight up question...they come in for endless flack from certain areas of social media but most owners swear by them. Personally speaking Ive had issues with mine over almost 3 yrs of ownership all sorted under warranty I should add.
I take it for a spin and just love it despite the problems.
I really couldn't consider anything else for my next car...Ferrari and Lambo really haven't caught up to the 720S 5 yrs or so later, no carbon tub etc Ferrari resting on their prancing horse laurels and Lambo on the big N/A engines. I love the design of the cars and the clever engineering that goes into them...and above all they're a British company disrupting the establishment...
Do tell!

Personally, I've had McLarens since 2015.......I've loved them all, one of the reasons is because they aren't Ferrari's or Lambo's....they are a bit of a left-field choice.....and they are british!

Although I must admit to a hankering to go back to a V10 bull..........

It is hard to quantify, however like you I have had the others and have zero desire to get back into them as it would be such a backward step.

The sheer fact that owners of the other brands used to pitch up on the McLaren forum to point out how crap they were added to the appeal; reminded me of pulling the girls pigtails at school they really fancied but never had the courage to ask out, ending up with some gimp instead.

I appreciate there are some out there that have had a terrible experience and unfortunately those are the posts that attract attention rather than the posts of loving the car and the brand that others owners post.

Even with their issues, I love McLarens and hope to always have one.
I have some interesting stuff ordered for next year but they shall a accompany, not replace..

They are like a pretty girlfriend, will prob cause you some hassle along the way but definitely worth it! Above all they are British and fairly rare on the road hence I love mine!

It's a bit tough to suggest that Ferrari are resting on their laurels, isn't it?

Because they’re the only super car brand that prioritize functionality and the driving experience. The forward visibility, the driving position, the feelsome steering, the pace. And that tub that adds lightness and stiffness (so that one can actually do a convertible).

Was in an F8 recently - no thanks.

McLaren moved the supercar game on, bit like the Fireblade and R1 did for motorbikes.

they are so well judged, their on road manners & track use manners are unmatched tbh, they’re british and very few things that are british are left to be proud of.

It rides brilliantly and comfort is crazily good for a supercar, they managed to do this & be an individual choice, it has all the usability of an R8 but has the looks and mystique to walk shoulder to shoulder with a Ferrari, it doesnt carry the wow or occasion of a Lambo but many dont want that and in fact, many think it an advantage of McLaren as someone pointed out.

I have to be in a certain mood to take out the Lambo but the 720 you can forget you’re driving it sometimes and just loose yourself, absolutely cant do that in the Aventador, the 720 actually slots in the middle perfectly between the others.

I was guided into a Mclaren by a friend when i was looking out for an AMG GTR, he thought it would suit my driving better and i absolutely love it, definitely would like to stick with the marque if it continues although not sure hybrids will be for me, so 720s when i can make the step up.

Steering feel is sublime, the feedback through the wheel is just so good, driving position, looks, rarity, weight and probably so many other little things besides.

Someone on another thread mentioned people seem to like to knock them down, probably because they threaten the mainstream Ferarri, Porsche etc perceived hireachy along with the usual internet, a mates mum daughters boyfriend old school friend had one and it was sh*t nonsense, be naive to think they done come without problems or issues, but 99.9% of the haters will have never been near one, let alone driven or owned one to come to a real propsective or balanced view.

Maybe a bit yes but their mid engined offering of the F8 isn't vastly different especially on the interior vs the 458 from 2010...and no carbon tub which all McLarens have had since inception. That in particular is only something offered in the hyper car bracket when it comes to Porsche and Ferrari but available in an entry level Mclaren. Ferrari still produce amazingly atmospheric V12 engines but again that's in the front engined GTs so not a direct competitor to what Mclaren offer. The 296 looks a v interesting car but even that is priced well above the Artura.

Just FYI, the Aventador has a carbon tub.

I love them. Sadly not in the market for one but would pick one before a Ferrari.

Why the big steel girders in the frunk around the battery area then? looks like an old rail chassis running the entire car! hehe (was in there changing battery last week)

For me the sheer driving experience.

675LT is the best car I’ve driven - have owned Ferrari and Lamborghini alongside.

Had very few issues and a really down to earth sales experience.

Plus the owners I’ve met who’ve become friends - all petrol heads and not many status seekers :-)

Every trip is special. And a McLarens shows you are interested in technology, rather than bragging off in a Ferrari. If not a 355gtb etc.😎

Plus the design. Best of Britain.

So I came from Porsche. Which has that rock-solid-engineered feel. But, when saw and sat in a McLaren, I realised how dull Porsche are in comparison.

McLaren has that exotic feel, appearance and performance that few have.

Ferrari lives of its own past and still needs to catch up on technology, McLaren carbon tub is unrivalled on its own segment.

So after 3+ yrs of ownership….

Pro:
-Exotic supercar feel, appearance and performance
-Unbeaten exclusivity
-Lightweight materials
-State of the art technology

Cons:
-Minor hand built quality issues and possible glitches
-Dealer network not as strong as Porsche or Ferrari

I`ve driven many performance/supercars cars from all the main manufacturers, although the one variant I`ve never driven is the 911 GT3 series, but for me McLaren stand out along with Lotus (unless you're going really hardcore road car with Caterham etc) with the most interactive and engaging driving experience and with the McLaren the true supercar experience. Owned 2 McLaren`s for 7 years with good experience.

Took my 675 out yesterday and it`s just epic... will do the bumbling around thing perfectly, but equally it does the warp speed/handling thing with a fire cracker exhaust to boot, think I`ll be keeping it a long time, all things being equal of course.

For me the exhaust noise is the biggest disappointment of the car, one area Mclaren is easily beaten by lambo, ferrari & even porsche to be fair.

for me it feels that thought genuinely goes into the car, the items that drew me in are the looks/the doors/the performance/the rocker paddles/the carbon tub/active aero/kerb weight/drive modes which make a massive difference to the dynamic of the car. When you compare the models, mclaren always punch above their weight in terms of performance and the scarcity of the cars is crazy. I like Ferrari but volume wise is crazy and recent models are less desirable to me personally than the f12 or 458 which was peak ferrari, porsche feels boring by contrast and lambo feels very old school. Overall the mclaren just seems like such great value for money!
