Hi All,

As per my previous post, I took ownership of a 19 plate 570s Spider in Storm Grey and loved every minute so far. Its due at the detailers in a few weeks and will also get PPF. However, found some niggles and before I speak to the aftersales I thought I would ask this knowledgeable forum.

1. The radio (and Bluetooth connection) intermittently "drops" for around 2 seconds.it would seem it happens when the car accelerates. Any ideas?

2. The tracker is showing a significant different mileage (24k) to the actualmileage on the car (13k). Now I understand there is differences to how GPS and Odometers calculate distance but this is worrying. Any thoughts?

3. Having only had the car for a week, it would seem the front brake calipers have trapped a stone between the wheel and severely marked the inside of both front wheels. I've heard this is quite common due to limited space there. Again, any thoughts?

Thanks all.

Full pictures will follow following detail.

For 1) I had the same when I bought my 650.
For mine, in the menu options there is a setting for 'speed warning' or something like that. Not speed camera, but a warning that you've just gone over the speed limit.

Previous owner had it enabled, but had turned the volume down as it was giving the warning. Hence a few seconds of a silent warning.

Next time it goes silent, turn the volume up and you'll probably hear it's warning you.

Number 1 could also be a loose earth cable , mine did something similar and the car acceleration might just be enough to knock it loose.

For your mileage question, a Mclaren service tech will be able to check all odometers to see if your dashboard number is correct.

sounds like a plan, assuming you can trust the selling dealer to 'mark their own homework' so to speak.

I'm not aware of any reason a correctly functioning GPS tracker would record almost twice as many miles as it had actually covered. I'd expect the totals to be within 10% or so, with the odo having the higher reading if anything as per https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... .

So the possibilities I see are
- the tracker is broken
- the tracker has covered 24k miles, but 11k+ of them were in another car from which it was transferred
- the tracker has covered 24k miles in your car (and thus the odo reading is incorrect)

You could try going for a ~ten mile drive and noting the mileage increment on the odo and the tracker against google maps, see if that reveals anything about the tracker's functioning.

I hate to say it and I don't want to worry you, but it wouldn't be unprecedented for a PHer to buy a high-end approved used car from a official franchised dealership in Manchester and then discover that the displayed mileage is, shall we say, an 'underestimate'

(edit to add - above appears to be the same actual dealership, which holds both McLaren & Rolls Royce franchises)

Thank you all for your responses and thoughts.

Here is the latest update:

1) We think the drop out of the radio is a wiring issue and is currently being looked at by Mc
2) The data in the tracker was correct with the issue being on the software side of the application. I am also having the newly upgraded tracker fitted (under warranty) by SMARtrack. Great service and I had someone ring me back and tell me this is happening across their own fleet of cars with a defect ticket raised
3) Seems this is a common problem and its being fixed as part of the detailing and PPF which is scheduled from next week

Full pics to follow once the detailing has been completed

Thanks again!
