Mac Sceptic in 600LT Purchase shocker
Discussion
So this just happened...
I came out of a 458 (a truly great car) and into a 991 GT3 RS which was I think the best description for that car was ....underwhelming..I was planning on holding tight and going back into a 458 over the winter try and grab a bargain. Life is however short and I thought I might slip in a cheap 570S over the summer do a few trackways in it and sell it in the late summer. Then I got a bit of budget creep and rewatched all the old launch videos of the 600LT when they came up off the back of 570 vides on YouTube. Not for the first time Youtubes algorithm had lead me to a car purchase!
I drove a Spider at McLeeds and had a good feeling about it. A deal couldn't be done in the end on that car but a wanted ad on the FB owners group resulted in a lead for this immaculate coupe which arrived with me this week.
Now full disclosure I fully admit to being one of those guys that has sat by the sidelines when all this anti Mac stuff has been going on and really wondered just what drugs people were on who bought them.. Now I know. Koolaid has been thoroughly swigged and wow what a machine this is!
No need in here to go on about the features of the car but hopefully it won't ruin me and will behave itself. First couple of drives have been interesting its a very very quick car but has great controls so doesn't just feel like a blunt instrument. It was a bit cheaper than my old GT3RS which I simply can't get my head around. Anyone spending 250k on a 991GT3 needs to give their head a wobble and go drive one of these things!

Congratulations and a great looking car.
I'm on 15k in 2.5 years and still absolutely love the car, I too just cannot see why people pay £200k+ for a 911 , they truely need to drive one of these to see how good they are but maybe their stuck in that Porsche rut and can't accept anything else.
Enjoy your new purchase.

And what a car, true drivers machine, one of very few supercars that can actually perform on track. Im a true convert.
Enjoy.
Oh my God finally a kindred sprit with an open mind!
I'm 20,000m into my 600 and its still bloody amazing. 3rd Mc. I must be mad !! No, none of that everything falls away ( bit like the panels etc!!) when you drive the fella.
2500m down to lake Como last week still cant stop smiling which for me is exactly as you say 'life is too short'.
Met the Guy from Misha's recent video on he ferry back. Anybody with any doubts should watch that youtube.
I'm Porsche inside since I was a kid (9 cars) like a piece of rock but they make nothing for me anymore, that I would be 'allowed to buy!!
Well done fella enjoy!!

Congrats looks superb! Your comments make v interesting reading re the GT3RS and the prices of those it’s always interesting when you compare list to list and the LT was probably 50-60k more RRP yet now it’s a cheaper car and let’s not talk about the crazy prices for the new GT3, I just cannot see how there’s any value in those. I’ll be honest I’ve had niggles with my 570s in the 2.5 yrs of ownership and I’m not sure if I could upgrade to a 600 and put up with similar problems but reading all the comments from other owners it sure seems tempting! Enjoy and health to drive .
Wow, looks great. The colour scheme is very smart, on the one hand orange is the McLaren colour, on the other hand an orange car is a bit much, so having orange highlights is a great balance.
And ultimately a group of fairly experienced journalists at evo chose it as their best car in 2018, so regardless of possible ownership irritations it's clearly something very special to drive. The chimney exhausts are pretty special too - only other example I can recall is the 918 Spyder, so it's in good company!
I have to agree, i was swayed towards a Mclaren and even the baby 570s has ignited a serious passion.
I have never got my head around the whole 911 GT price thing, let alone all the other stuff you have had to buy to get a decent build time. A buddy of mine took delivery of a GT3 touring about a month ago, allegedly changing hands for £300k, thats almost 765LT money or a 720s AND a 600LT, crazy what people will spend to be in one of them!!!

Have owned a 991.2 GT3 for four years….have driven a 620 R on track a couple of times and felt it was just a whole different level to my car. I am guessing that’s a more hardcore version of the LT but very similar characteristics I am assuming ?
620R is based on the 570s GT4 race series car. Also Epic as you say!Gassing Station | McLaren | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
