Do you think McLaren will evolve the eye socket engineering in the 720S replacement or will they just abandon it?

In my opinion, the eye sockets have made the 720S a much uglier car than it otherwise would have been, both from the front and especially the side (due to the removal of large visible side intakes).

I expect them to abandon it in the 720S replacement to generate more sales.

I also see that the 600LT top exhausts have not been repeated in any other cars. I love the look of these exhausts so wonder whether their lack of implementation elsewhere is due to maintenance problems or something else.

I hated it when I saw the first pictures of a 720s.

Now I actually like it. Not too sure how that happened, but it did. Just like the large grilles on Audis. (I am still waiting for the BMW to win me over though)

The Artura seems to have a version of them, so I’m guessing they will be around a while longer..

I cannot believe anyone in BMW signed off those grills, utterly hideous, looks like something that Leepu and Bernie created on Chop Shop.

I love the 720s lights, whilst i appreciate they are not for all, its so different to anything else out there and applaud a bit of creativeness with a normally mundane design feature.

Initial pictures at launch were horrendous but as time passes familiarity has made it grown on me ever so slightly although I would never say it looks good.

When you see them physically and appreciate the engineering it makes more sense.

Clearly they will continue to evolve purely from a technical point of view

Central part of the design by Frank Stephenson was "Biomimicry"

I really wanted to like it and when I went to test drive one I hated it in person. It's a shame they didn't evolve the P1/650S styling as that front end is iconic without being scifi.

I wasnt a fan at first. Didnt know whether it was the fact they were a darker colour than body. So had mine painted to see if that made a difference rather than fit the carbon surrounds. Will run it like this for a while before finally making my decision.

I thought that as well. Black cars always looked ok so going bodycoloured seemed a potential solution. Having seen your photo I have to agree its 100% better like that. A neat solution IMHO

I think it works pretty well. Looking forward to (finally) getting mine back on Friday.

Stunning timeless design feature IMO.
