Hi All,

Just been quoted around £2.9k for my 6th service, seems a lot more expensive than the first few services, just wondering what everyone else is being quoted/charged so far for their 6th?

Wow that’s a big difference, was that at a main dealer/thorny/local garage? If it was main dealer, which one?

Give Damien a call at Guildford; helps if you are a DU or MOC member.

Thanks Grey,

Has anyone else had their 6th service yet? How much did you pay and at which dealer/service centre?

From the technical FB section

There has been a lot of discussion on servicing and schedules recently. so I thought I'd give you some basics that should be completed dependent on which service is due. 1, 3, 7 and 9 - oil and filter plus a whole host of checks, adjustments, lubrications etc. This is relevant for all models. 2, 4, 6, and 8 are all the same as the above but with additionals of Pollen Filter, Air Filters and Brake Fluid change. 5th service on all vehicles entails the odd number services above but also has a coolant change. P11 (12C - 650 - 675LT) - all extras are mileage dependent i.e. spark plugs, fuel filter, clutch oil and filter etc. P13 (540C - 570S - 570GT - 600LT) Fuel filter and active charcoal filter are due at the 6th annual service. P14 (720S - 765LT) Fuel filter and active charcoal filter due at the 6th service. all other items i.e. spark plugs, clutch oil and filter etc are mileage dependent on P13 and P14. Hope this all makes sense.
  • *Edit***
The 10th service is an even number service but also the 2nd time of completing the equivalent of a 5th service - oil and filter, checks etc, pollen filter, air filters, brake fluid change and coolant change.
Everything then reverts back to 1 and repeats as necessary.

My 540C is now due its 6 year service

I have just been quoted £1400 for the service and also recommended as per service schedule £1245 for the Charcoal canisters.

No idea what they do ........... so a total £2645......

Hi John, this is really helpful, so it seems like a normal service… plus £1,200+ For some charcoal canisters! 😂 I’ll do some research to see what they do/what they’re needed for

There are a growing number of McLaren specialist indies out there. As opinions about main dealers are not always glowing and worth the considerable extra expense, give them a thought. Thorney Motorsport is the most well-established and it does needs-based servicing, only changing bits that actually need it after inspection. V engineering is also highly thought off in the McLaren owners club. If you join the latter, you can seek advice on the best option near where you live. Closed group so people freely share both their best and their worst experiences.

I haven’t owned my 12C for very long and, unless a problem develops, I won’t be getting work done until next Jan. I therefore have no personal experience to relate.
