Considering this 720S
Discussion
Hi everyone,
I currently own a few cars, one of which is an MP4 12C Spyder. Love it. Great car but sorely tempted by a 720S; have always been drawn by the unique styling etc.
What do people think about this car, I'm curious? I'm not sure about the whole satin paint effect anymore but can always be remedied. Otherwise, seems well specced but low mileage could equal problems. Thorney and Mclaren warranties similar in price on these? Thanks

One of the highest spec cars I have seen for sale, the carbon roof panels are extremely rare.
It's strong money for a 2017 car but that's reflected with how well optioned it is and the mileage on it. Some people will say that it's actually better to go for something with more miles on it so that all of the niggles have been ironed out, but if you get an inspection done first you should be OK. You could probably get a 2019 - 2020 car for similar money but the spec won't be as good. It depends what is important to you, age of the car or the spec of the car. If it's got all the options you want on it, it's definitely worth a look and Romans are reputable so I wouldn't be overly concerned there.
The Thorney warranty is cheaper than the McLaren warranty by around £1k a year.
I paid around £5k more than that in January for 2021 car with 1400 miles and 2 years factory warranty left on it, but the spec isn't as good, it's silver and it's also a luxury spec car, but I really wanted something with factory warranty.

Looks very nice, but it is pretty expensive for a 2017 car. It could be fine but 2017 cars don't have the best reputation and this one may not have done enough miles for all the potential issues to emerge and be fixed. If you like carbon (and why not) it's very well specced, but a lot of the aesthetic benefit of the carbon is lost in the colour for me. Only a small thing, but it doesn't have the extended paddles.

2018 high spec 720 Performance with 4k miles sold on CC for c £125k in Spring 2020.
Car prices in April 2020 are somewhat different to car prices in April 2022 unfortunately... Doesn't mean that Romans 720 isn't overpriced though which it clearly is as others have said.
I'd ring round the all the dealers, tell them what you are looking for and your budget and also call Alastair Bols.
They will contact you before they list them for sale if something is due in that fits your requirements.
For that money I'd be looking at a 2019+ model.
Prices are all over the place at the moment.

£20k less but inter galactic 21k miles.....
Lol intergalactic …5.5k miles a yr for a 4 yo car I guess you prefer to look at your cars than get out and drive them ? I’ve done 12k miles in two years in my 570s taking it to over 28k!! Enjoyed every one of them but of course it’s prob worth pennies now …oh well. RSbandit said:

And probably the highest mileage one in the UK unless you can provide proof of another thats higher. Which has a massive affect on value as we all know. Same as Porsche or Ferrari. Unfortunate but true.
In fact twice the average mileage FOR A 720S of that age as even the Autotrader ad confirms.
So you've only done 12k miles in two years. I've done double that in my cars!! All of which are driven btw.
looks like you have quite a few cars...would you have done the same if all the miles were going on one car? Hardly an apples to apples comparison right.
Sure the 720S in on the higher side mileage wise looks like another one with 28k miles for sale which is actually priced higher. My point is that it wouldn't necessarily put me off the car which seems to be what you are getting at.
