Hi,
I’m looking to buy a 12C - I’ve seen some frankly ridiculous invoices for even the simplest tasks on these car. I’m coming from having owned 5 esprits and an Evora - all of which I’ve maintained and fully serviced on my own ramp at home.

So big question - anyone else do this?

I can't comment on the 12C, but my 540C in comparison to my old Evora is very similar for service costs. The 540/570 is very reasonable with the alternating major minor schedule

Which surprised me. Obviously the warranty is quite costly if you go for it on the Sport Series in comparison. But it's more expensive on the Super Series.

Some diagnostic stuff will be missed which will be important for a 12C. I would recommend having a chat with Paul at V-Engineering . Top Chap all techs are ex. McLaren and can give you the lo-down!

I can't recall reading about anyone self-servicing their Mac's on here.

There is one guy doing it but I forget his username. He posted photos of the car (black 12C with an aftermarket exhaust?) on ramps on his driveway. I got the impression he planned to do everything himself.

Edit … this is the thread

Thanks. I guess that leaves a lot of owners who don't service themselves. I always thought they were complicated beasts to maintain!

They are just cars at the end of the day. When new I can understand the mega warranty payments and servicing. These care are getting older now - and yes more bits might wear out. But once they are older and warranty gone it’s reasonable for folks to work on the cars at home.
Changing fluids isn’t rocket science is it. I’ve seen some bills on here for £2k just to swap a couple of thermostats - which is without question a complete pi££ take.
