Thing i love most is that when this guy started youtube channel he was extremely modest about the cars he used to be able to afford and buy. Nonchalantly talks about buying Scuds, 550m and 650s. All supercars most of us love but daren't run for fear of a wallet emptying oil leak. hehe

Had commented on another thread how the 25-30k price differential between a 570s Spider and a 650s Spider didn't make much sense to me... I presonally prefer the styling of the 570S hence why I have one however at under £100k a 650s Spider seems quite compelling albeit with higher running costs than the sports series car. Videos like this one reinforce what good value they look.

As an owner of one with the occasional itch, I still can’t imagine blowing 100k that can be otherwise be socially/responsibly spent for an incrementally better 720 spider or 675lt.

The 650spider fills the mid engine, carbon chassis, folding hardtop niche in my varied garage, with the Atom perhaps more pure on track, and the Tesla for blowing away everything in a straight line.

I’m looking to jump into a McLaren spider and have noted dealers pushing the prices of the 650s up, some private cars being bought by dealers and slapping 15k premium on it.

570s feels like a newer car with more choice so if the prices lessen I’ll just go that way.

I wouldn’t agree with his assessment of the 720 but each to their own.

It’s certainly a lot of car for the money and very pretty.

That's why you need to drive them. Stop those oil seals drying out smile

I'll vouch for this. My 570 Spider is up for sale at the mo privately on AT. 99% of calls are from dealers wanting it at well below what I'm asking and it's already the cheapest by about 5k. They literally have nothing to do to it to make it retail ready, even has McL warranty. I'm used to a knock after buying/selling Lambo's but the spread they want seems excessive. Might be going down the SOR route soon as people seem reluctant to buy privately - which I get frown

True best to drive em. Well done. Its brilliant to see someone performing well at something they genuinely have a passion for.

Almost all the major issues I've had with supercars have happened after they sat for a while. Best thing you can do for them is drive them regularly.

Probably more to do with his "friends" experience when buying rather than the car itself, there is absolutely no merit in the assement that the 720s was a step backwards.

Fantastic drive on drying roads this morning. Lots of talk on this forum about fun McLarens…but the 650s is just so good. Superb feedback through the steering and suspension staying planted through bumpy roundabouts and roads that are already ragged this early in winter. Does an amazing job of filtering out the noise and giving you the vital info without twitchiness and shouting in your ear.

Had a call from my dealer last week checking if I’d had the “upgrade” itch - told him there’s nothing to upgrade to. The 650s is too good.
