I flippin love my McLaren
Discussion
As per the title really.
As a repeat Mclaren owner, and dead excited about going out for a blast this afternoon after a few weeks of being too busy to find time, my enthusiasm has overcome me.
I have been lucky enough to have had Porsches and Ferraris, but none of them have bit me like McLaren have.
Each car has had a few niggles, but similar experiences had on the other aforementioned marques; nothing that would ever make me try to dissuade any future owner from buying one.
McLaren F1 team was always my favourite team from a kid and its just fantastic that they are back on track with great drivers in the cars, complimented with great personalities on the pitwall.
Now a possible purchase by BMW ( hopefully ) or Audi; it would been great if they managed to stay as the were, but the financials of current and going forward it unfortunately makes sense to have a wealthy parent company.
Anyone else feel still feeling excited and love for McLaren, or just me?

i'm 2 weeks into 720 ownership (first McLaren). I have it parked away from my property so dont see or use it during the week at the moment. had planned to take it out today to go to sons rugby followed by daughters dance. Last night going to bed was like xmas eve all over again as a kid. part 1 of the ferrying of kids done. its such a great car, got so many great comments at school earlier and looking forward to taking to Brookland hotel later for diner. like you Ive owned some other decent cars but this thing is next level!
Jaded Mac owner here. So boring. Just got done with my early Saturday morning blast to my sports club and back. As always amazing front visibility, superb suspension keeping all four corners planted as I DRIVE through bumpy roundabouts with the steering telling me everything I need to know, slight twitch at the rear as the power comes on for a straight line blast to the next curve, big smile on face. Been there - doing that - for years now. And still looking forward to doing it again tomorrow morning.

Had my 570s around Bedford for a trackday today, man its a weapon and so much fun the handling is lovely especially in ESCDYN, alot of people commenting on it and coming over for a look gave a couple of passenger laps and they were buzzing afterwards. I've had some problems with mine ( sorted under warranty) but days like today and I'm well onside again! There's a real cachet to the McLaren name just when I think it's time to go back to an Aston another Mc is maybe what's needed!

How did you fare on the noise tests out of interest? Bedford being notoriously strict on the db levels.Does you car have the standard, sports or MSO exhaust? Would be good to know!

I just short shift past the sensors there’s about 4 of them around the track, it’s quite a long circuit so plenty of time to open it up properly away from them … I was pressing on yday and didn’t receive a sound board all day so seemed to work . Had some instruction from a chap who did a lot of work with McLaren so he knew the car well and really pushed me was great. Does you car have the standard, sports or MSO exhaust? Would be good to know!

On the db metre there really isnt anything between std and sports. I have a sports exhaust and managed to get a cheap std exhaust hoping to get onto quieter trackdays (all part numbers checked with Mclaren to validate the right model exhaust), sports exhaust at Castle Combe was 99db, std exhaust at Goodwood 98db both at the 4k soft limit.Does you car have the standard, sports or MSO exhaust? Thanks for the heads up. I assume those db levels are static readings? Assume you didn't have any issues then if they're that low?Bought my 12c around 9 months ago
First week of ownership it was on track at Donnington park, the following week was mapped and now running 700bhp
Since then done another 2 track days and i just love driving this car although it demands respect in this cold weather
Thing is i dont actually miss it!
Maybe because i use it every day to go to work & back

I have a 720S Spider with sports exhaust, and have not had any issues at Bedford with the noise limits. Depends how close and how hard you're driving up the rev range when you pass the microphones, of course, but I had no problems. leemanning said:

Sorry for the delayed resposne, yes at the static test on the 4k soft limiter.Combe was fine (sport exhaust) but at Goodwood (std exhaust) i did get a couple of noise warnings on the drive by metres, however, that was a Goodwood quiet day where i think the drive is 96 db from memory, i think i spiked the metres at 97/98db so on a noisey day it would be fine.
