So, beeing offered a mp4-12c originating from Dubai. NO service records from new in 2013 - 2017.
Passing local McLaren service and MOT without any issues.

So, what is value vs a known car with all records and paperwork?

Is it 10,20,30% less compared to a UK car?

It's not just the fact it's from Dubai - it's the total lack of service records for 4 years.

I wouldn't touch it - especially not at 10% less. I'd be amazed if you could get the extended warranty on it.

It's probably a good car - but if it's not, it will be very expensive to fix anything and it will be VERY hard to sell again unless it's very much reduced. What is the average price of good 12Cs - £70k? So 30% would be ~£50k - still a bit rich for me.

If its passed Mclaren insepction for a warranty and a warranty is provided, youve not got a lot to worry about, except resale, when the same question will be asked. Personally i would say its going to be have to be a fair bit cheaper to tempt people away from a UK car, 20-25%% at least as a guess and opinion

I would have thought the Mclaren database was worldwide, so surely they can see if its got any service history/warranty claims over the years from its chassis number?

I would ask Thorney Motorsport to inspect the car before sale with a view to a warranty with them if you decide to go ahead post inspection.

They picked up on a laundry list of issues on my just serviced by Mclaren 720s

Unless i am reading it wrong, the op says it has passed mclaren service and mot without any issue.

Nope, you're reading that correct, but it doesn't say it would pass the inspection to get a UK McLaren extended warranty, that's very different to being serviced in Dubai.

If thats the case its a no brainer, pay the monies for an mpi with Mclaren and see if they can check its history as mentioned, i would be sure their database/service/warranty etc is a worldwide thing.

I'm less sure. I've heard of people buying a car from a well known dealer, finding out it was an imported car and discovering that McLaren refuse to put an extended warranty on it.

It might be hearsay, but I'd certainly want confirmation from McLaren.

Having no paperwork for the services is not unusual in Dubai ... the service booklets for the 3 cars that I previously owned all still had their shrink wrap on them in the boot when I sold the cars. The dealer keeps records electronically and didn’t seem to bother with a stamp. As others have said, I’m sure McLaren here can access this info, if not give the service centre in Dubai (Al Habtoor Motors) a call and they should be able to help. (I kept the receipts and passed on with the cars but I suspect a lot of Dubai owners do not).

I considered bringing our 650S back with us when we repatriated about 18 months ago (there’s a thread on here where I sought some advice) and I remember someone said Gulf spec Ferraris were typically 15-20% lower in price than Euro cars (hence the equivalent McLaren probably lower). This combined with LHD meant that I didn’t follow through with the idea.

12Cs were very cheap in Dubai for a while, £50k would have secured one.

No service records and an import from Dubai would be a killer for most. My guess is it’s worth at least 30% less based on the same spec / mileage / age and condition Uk car.

A nice uk spec 12c can be bought retail at 69k nowadays.

Be a hard sell if wanted to sell it with a very very limited audience.

Up to this year have never even asked my Ferrari dealer if they stamped the book post service (part of the time I don’t think I had it in the car)

from what I've seen recently it seems the cars in dubai are very similarly pried to uk examples now

Yes, I’m surprised how few cars are now for sale in Dubai and how prices have bounced back. I guess it’s simple supply/demand economics, the limited demand forced prices down to a point where they arb’d pretty much everywhere and hence a large number were exported ... my old car ended up in Cambodia along with a few others!

If you’d lived in the Middle East you’d not even be considering this (assumption on my part?). Yes, a car from a known source with known provenience but otherwise good luck.

Closed the deal today. Almost 20% off compared to similar car.

Loaded in carbon, Diamond cut wheels, orange. Fresh paint.

And since MY 2013 I got cover for mechanical, electrical and hydrualics. Until 2023.

Insurance cost rose by 50 GBP / Month for this coverage.

So, vacation is planned for UK and a overhaul at Thorney in the fall.

I think I`ve seen that car at various dealers in Dubai a year or so ago. Looked a bargain. at the same time all the reliability woes were doing their rounds on tinternet and couple that with lack of service records and it being for sale for a period at a certain notorious dealer called A*ba put people off.
Just shows with some cojones and eyes open things can turn right.

Good luck and let`s see pics!

What do you mean by fresh paint, that would set off alarm bells for me.

Car has been thru a PPI at the local importer. No issues. So, I feel quite safe. And, the insurance cover most common problems. Resprayed hood.

Are most of GVEs cars Imports ? Even the RHD cars
Their prices seem to be a lot lower than the general market values but they don't clearly state it in there ads which is very misleading but explains why some seemingly good cars are up for sale ages.
The green 675LT is such an example.

I'm not going to buy an import not matter how big a saving as its only going to have same knock on effect come resale surely
