570GT rear latch saga continues...
Discussion
Tried jiggling with the broken rear latch mechanism without success but as a known failure this would likely need to be recovered. Supplying dealer advised me to call McLaren Breakdown recovery supplied as part of the deal when buying the car.
Just recovery helpline and was advised that there is no record of the roadside assistance cover and the AA refused to attend the car, let alone recovering back to dealer. Good job I hadn’t broken somewhere dangerous and the car is just sat in my garage. The AA operator I spoke to escalated this to a supervisor who refused to authorise assistance without McLaren confirmation which isn’t possible on a Sunday.
Called the dealer but they couldn’t help as service department isn’t open and couldn’t call AA on my behalf... Open to McLaren customer service redeeming themselves but going to need an effort

You are right and I had the welcome letter in front of me when talking to the AA but did me no good as wouldnt/couldn’t take as “proof” of cover
Hmm - some admin cock up then I guess. Good luck!PS; I wouldn't drive with gaffer tape holding lid down as I would guess that the same area would be subject to lift and so would open it. iyswim.

McL breakdown man turned up and tickled the latch. Hey presto all good. I mean FFS... driving car like Miss Daisy back to dealer as car needs a service anyways...
Care to elaborate more specifically on "tickled"?!latch mechanism was seemingly broken and would not engage with the mating part on the edge of the glass hatch. so it would not shut. the recovery mechanic worked some magic and freed up the mechanism. haven't been brave enough to open since but was due in for a service under warranty so have it back to the dealer
i really enjoy the car hope you are equally pleased
