Hi all, after several years of driving various different Lotus, I have taken the leap into McLaren ownership. The GT430 has gone and I am now the proud owner of a Slate Grey 540C. Standard spec other than orange calipers, seat belts and stitching. After speaking to a few dealerships, some of which never even called me back the guys at New Forest were great. Had the car a couple of weeks and can't believe the difference, it is a superb driving experience. Its away being wrapped at the moment, going Stinger yellow to the body and keeping the roof, A pillars and engine cover grey. Once its back, it's then going to McLaren Leeds, the washer bottle thinks its empty when its not, the air con and heated stuff has given up the ghost and the front O/S suspension is leaking oil. They say things come in 3's. Not great for a 3yr old car with only 12k miles, at least I have a McLaren warranty. I will upload some more pics when its back from the wrappers.
Cheers Jim, I am putting them down to teething problems :-) Really looking forward to seeing how the wrap comes out,.I am also looking at carbon hydro dipping. I have bought a spare rear diffuser and getting it dipped, I will post images of that too. I cant believe the price of carbon bits for McLarens.
Congrats!
So the New Forest guys were superb, other than selling you a car with three faults, two of them serious! As you say the warranty will prevent major pain but still not overly impressive after two weeks.
They're my nearest dealer so I'm hoping to get down there as soon as they re-open the showroom and I'll be interested to ask them what their PDI covers!

Hi fella. as regards customer service and actually being interested in selling me a car they were great, after sales is just as good and they are being really helpful in getting things fixed and offered to speak with Leeds McLaren directly etc. They have asked me to keep them looped in as regards progress. I did question them on the pdi! Lets say we have agreed it's disappointing but one (3) of those things.

I’m looking forward to seeing how the wrap comes out!!! Also like to see how the carbon wraps go.I bought the car from NF as Leeds and Hatfield didn't bother calling me back. As its an approved car it comes with the 12 month warranty so it can go back to any dealership and Leeds is only 6 miles from where I live. Hope mine looks as sweet as yours!! Also, yellow is her indoors fave colour so keeps her happy! (not an easy task when it comes to cars!)
Congratulations on the car - looks great.
The warranty situation is curious in situations like this. The extended warranty - although very good - is provided by a third party. Since the warranty started when you took delivery of the car - and the car already had existing faults - technically, you'd think the warranty company isn't the one who should be paying for those to be fixed - it should be done by the dealer who sold the car.
Incidentally - when I had problems with my climate control, it was deemed to be due to water ingress into the module in the drivers door - and the warranty doesn't cover water ingress. Since it was less than 6 months after I bought the car, I told the dealer that CRA applied and they were paying for it - which they did "as goodwill".
I guess that as long as the warranty company accepts all of the issues you'll be fine but if they don't - the car will probably have to go back to NF.

You obviously checked the car over once you got it, in these days of click and collect it's the only thing you can do, I've just rejected a car (not a McL) that was north of 50K from a main dealer at just over a year old as the first thing I did when I got it back was get it up on a ramp and have a good look round it, this showed that despite it only having 700 miles from new those miles had been put on it by the manufacturer using it as an off road experience vehicle !, I can only imagine what would have happened if it had been sold to someone with no facilities to look at it, the first time it had gone back for service the new owner would have been presented with a list of damaged components that needed replacing and no recourse as with the time that had passed the dealer would have said that the damage had been done by the owner as it had been checked before it left them.looks like a great car, I'm really taken by the prospect of getting one one day, until then I'm enjoying reading about new owners experiences

I am guessing that the car already had a warranty and it was just extended, so no need for the multi point inspection by Mclaren which i have just had to do with my purchase, ironically at New Forest, although i would have thought a sale car was thorughly gone through. They picked up on a couple of things that required doing to take out a warranty and so far they have been excellent to deal with. The warranty situation is curious in situations like this. I must say I couldn't imagine accepting a product with known (rectifiable) faults. This is a nonsense scenario imoThe warranty situation is curious in situations like this. Agreed, bit off topic but not much, I had an Aston Martin delivered post their 'Timeless' inspection/warranty with big ends knocking! Seems some dealers are happy to let the warranty cover cost of known faults and to hell with the customer which is wrong imho. BTW Aston Martin customer service was fantastic but that's not the point, it's not right. The whole click and collect things isn't great, but I will still give NF their dues' at least they wanted to sell me a car, unlike a few other dealers! I am going to be positive about it and confident Leeds will sort it, 3 faults after 2 weeks, unfortunate but fixable! And I have just found out the "master" technician from Leeds lives a few doors down from me so might be giving him a knock soon and making friends
A cynic might suggest that it’s no enormous surprise that NF were falling over themselves to sell you a car, knowing full well that the likelihood of ever seeing it again for remedial work, based on your location, was pretty much zero...
