First 300 miles
Discussion
As you know the car was picked up from Mclaren Manchester and driven back home. The car performed brilliantly and with the roof down was an epic first experience over the first 180 miles, there were no issues and the car is very easy to live with on UK roads. The amount of attention it attracted was off the scale. The car averaged 22mpg given that most of the journey was at 50mph due to the road works on the M6. We used the car over a variety of different roads and conditions and it handled it with complete confidence.

The car was prebuilt and so I didn't get to choose anything but the only thing I would really change would be the seat belts from Black to Orange., the rest of the spec would be as I would have chosen. I may have swapped the track pack for some more carbon but overall I was very happy with the spec.
On viewing there is a slight problem with the steering wheel orientation and the usual exhaust tip misalignment that comes about from the non symmetrical nature of the sports exhaust. I may have a go at realigning as I just a little worried about possibility of marking.
The sports exhaust has valves, something I hadn't realised until I researched it and looked up the tail pipe. I have no idea what software parameters they are using to control them but sometimes I think it is ok and other times it can be a little underwhelming. I am used to loud NA cars in the Aston v12 and TVR tuscan that share it's garage.
Driving it gives you a real sense of emotion something that I found lacking in some of its competitors. It is obvious to all that although it is happy on the roads it really should be on the track, it just keeps pushing you to explore it's limits which are tremendous.
I am happy to take any questions on the options as it was one thing I researched before I bought.
In terms of concerns my only real one is around protecting the paint, so it is going in for a track pack PPF treatment. I think the undersides of the doors are especially vulnerable given you can see them so clearly when you open the doors. I do have a little concern over marking the alcantara sill covers and may swap the originals out at some stage. The MSO carbon sills are so tempting.
In terms of the cars they aren't exactly new to me, my one colleague was involved with the sound system at B&W and my other colleague worked on the engine design. Mclaren used to be my biggest client in F1 but that was a long time ago.
Overall I am absolutely delighted with the car and find myself looking at it and wanting to drive it more but PPF first.

Very nice car.
Did you miss out secondary interior components CF ? I think you can retro fit this.
The exhaust valve is for EU noise regs and like you say seems like not much logic as to when it opens and shuts, def opens at higher revs and wider throttle openings but apart from that has a mind of its own. Novitec sell a module which allows you to control the valve.
