The trim looks out of alignment but the door looks shut. Potential purchase so interested in what current owners think?

I've seen a few like this , there was a post on a new 570s owner recently and it looked the same.

Maybe take a look at some others and see how it compares? It does look on the wonk though doesnt it. The top of the door runs with the panel next to it, but on the lower part of the door the panels dont look like they quite align if you follow the lines though.

No ownership experience but to the untrained eye that looks unacceptable!

It completely ruins the styling line through the door/wing.

Looks like it has been over tightened on the hinge or had a whack on the lower door and repaired maybe?

The alignment is atrocious.

It's quite common to have mismatched panels, albeit to a lesser degree that this one. It looks like the lower rear panel is needing adjusted as the door aligns properly with the top rear panel. I'm on my third McLaren, the second one needed adjustment and it was brand new. the dealer sorted it in minutes.

There are a lot of swoops and 2 colours going on there. The sill is deffo out by a mile but with the door I would need to see a good sideways shot.

Agreed, mine was the same, passenger door sill alignment wasn't acceptable and the dealer adjusted without any issues. Not good, and should have been sorted before it left the factory, but quite straight forward for them to rectify.

Yes, mine was identical at delivery, brand new 2019 car. Took it back in and they aligned it properly, easy one to resolve.

I zoomed in and the door looks a different white to the rear quarter ?!

Yes the door sill is way off and for that money a huge no no.

As others have said it's piss poor alignment, all part of the McLaren experience.

The problem that you sometimes have as I have found on my 720s, is that when they align perfectly they allow wind noise in where it's not sealed correctly. To stop this happening you end up with a car that looks like it's suffered the result of accident damage.

Happy to post up pics of mine, don't want anyone thinking im scaremongering!

I'd like to see if you don't mind. Still looking for a 720 and would rather go in with my opens open.

Here you go, it's actually about 5mm out at the top, at least the good old folks at McLaren made sure the wind noise was gone rolleyes

Looks like the one that was on Collecting Cars a couple of weeks ago. Guess it didn't sell as its not coming up in their sold section.

If its the same car then the seller was questioned about the alignment and replied that his local dealer had quoted a minimal charge for labour to fix. Can't remember the amount but it was so little as to be inconsequential.

If you're concerned then buy on the proviso that its rectified prior.

Looks like the panel behind the door could be the issue to me. The panel touches the one above it by the rear wheel but there is a gap at the front of it by the door, slight clockwise rotation would line it all up?

Mine was sorted under warranty, at zero cost.

If the car is out of warranty, it's either been like that for over 3 years so isn't as bad in the flesh as the photo suggests, or the door isn't fully closed, or it's been recently dismantled / adjusted badly.

There was a 'Harry's Garage' road test of a 570s spider a few years ago, a really good overview in which he highlights the poor panel gaps on the door suggesting that the design is just too complex with too many conflicting panel angles around the unconventional hinge arrangement. Its a poor design and some cars clearly are better than others, but very rarely perfect!

Then you would have to question why they didn't get it sorted before sale.

TBH, whatever the issue and/or corrective action it's a pretty poor advert for the Brand.
