[quote=Pioneer]Interested to see how you get on. Very close to pulling the trigger on a 570S or GT (prob GT). 99% decided against the 650S. Only thing stopping me is all the horror stories and people swearing they'll never buy McL again [/quote
There are problems but the warranty is bullet proof owning one without is too risky imo.

LOTS of happy owners, and repeat owners over on the owners club. Mine has been pretty much faultless for over 3 years now (540C). I wouldn't risk running it without warranty though. OP - great spec, keep us posted!

I assume these the same 3 people that just keep repeating their horror stories on PH about their faulty window that wont go up and some bits of paint over-spill that were fixed under warranty anyway ......Meanwhile in the rear world there are 3,073 McLaren's registered on UK roads. That's 3,070 contented owners.....Bispal said:

Can't we just agree to disagree on that we're all entitled to our opinion and whilst some will go on about what great reliable cars they are, others with experience will continue to say how they're not
Getting the thread back on topic - congrats op - that looks amazing, enjoy in good health!

There are problems but the warranty is bullet proof owning one without is too risky imo. There was a recent post whereby the extended McLaren warranty wouldn't cover shocks and the owner had to cough up £3k for replacement shocks that were not covered after already paying around that for the warranty, not as bullet proof as other forum members have also claimed.
A bit concerning as this is common on the 570s, both of mine required new shocks due to them leaking however, this was covered under the 3 year manufacturer warranty and not extended.
Apologies for a factual post instead of scaremongering...
On super series I have had the shocks ( or dampers ) replaced under both manufacturers warranty and the McLaren extended warranty without any drama whatsoever.
On the last occasion, not only did they replace the damper that was discovered as defective during the service, but they also replaced the drop links and bushes as they appeared 'worn', all under the extended warranty.
The extended McLaren warranty might seem expensive, but it is first class.

Is that the Thorney warranty or McLaren warranty you refer to?

The Mclaren extended warranty...yep I remember that thread and I was suprised as I've had the perished bushing issue in my 570s and all front suspension arms were replaced under warranty...I don't know why the treatment would vary. Good post - First time McL owner here, 2 years in from new. 9k miles. Not been fault free, most issues are annoying rather than serious. McL dealer superb, McL head office dire. Just my opinion. Would I buy another? Most certainly
Good to hear Matty, I also think they are fantastic cars as I have expressed In the past, however I'm very vocal about the issues I've had with all of them, at the same time it's an open forum and will voice them and continue to do so, we're all entitled to our opinion right? RSbandit said:

I have owned mine from new a 68 plate 570s and the only problems i have had were the radio stopped working and it leaked once. The leak turned out to be a blocked drainage hole. All fixed under warranty from mclaren in glasgow who are fantastic to deal with. They also gave me a brand new mclaren while my car was being sorted.I have had loads more problems with porsche than mclaren and when my 2 cayennes are a couple of years older i don't think i will buy another porsche. Once out of warranty i would buy the mclaren warranty, I think its about £2400 well worth it and the only thing it does not cover is leaks. Brilliant car to drive and it handles like a go kart. The steering is like a go kart as well. Wherever you go or park expect someone to come and talk to you and ask for a picture. It has happened to me loads of times.

I hope your right - my 650s is going in and I think it’s either shock (s) or accumulators. If they’re not covered by the McLaren warranty I renewed in April, I’m in trouble ...On super series I have had the shocks ( or dampers ) replaced under both manufacturers warranty and the McLaren extended warranty without any drama whatsoever.
