Yes I waited up too...impressive power figure but not bowled over by the overall design, I much prefer the 570S doors with the double layers for the air intake rather than the new design. I'm sure it'll look better in the flesh but a 22k hike in price over the outgoing model you're not gonna get much change out of £200k for a nice spec.

Bit annoying, I’m working long hours and knackered and just waited up to see the launch of the 570s
Apart from new side and rear profile, a new front that keeps in fitting with the Mclaren identity, new interior, engine, drivetrain and having the ability to enter all the ICE free zones that shall soon appear everywhere in cities, yup, its exactly the same as a 570.Cannot believe you stayed up late on a school night in order to be the first poster with a funny comment...
Thankfully Porsche made the new GT3 look totally different from every other 911...

Come on, clearly waiting for replies like yours to fuel his otherwise pitiful day. Don't bother, anyone with half a working grey cell would see the substantial changes from a 570S. And in the case he's blessed with one, wonder how he feels at every new 911 launch? Must really question all his long, arduous days to await a launch! Cannot believe you stayed up late on a school night in order to be the first poster with a funny comment...

Wow that's very impressive totally different to the 570 and P1 type tech for a tenth of the price. Love the little touches like the switches on the binnacle. Looks like they have just released the new Esprit a few years before Lotus got chance too. It will be interesting to her what it sounds like probably hard to get it to sound any worse than the old V8. If they have nailed quality control and the cars actually work this could be a big hit for them.
I don't dislike it, but it doesn't really get me excited or interested in dropping a deposit on it. Just a bit meh, especially at the price point. Alternatives at or around the price point, or in some cases below:-
Huracan Evo RWD (new)
Huracan Performante (used)
720S Spider/Coupe (Used)
600LT
F8 tributo (new)
488 Spider (Used)
Would I want the Artura over any of those? I just can't see it.

We need to give this time, and see it in the metal. The presentation wasn't all that clear on why you should buy one, particularly over the current generation of McLarens, unless what you really want in a sports car is the ability to use electric power for a few yards on Brands Hatch! But if they sell loads it will be inspired.
The unjustified criticism of Mclaren is getting lazy and tiresome.
The 570 was released 4 years ago, and we now have an evolution of that with the Artura.
The Ferrari 458 was released 10 years ago , and here we are with the F8 their third evolution of the same body shape. (Not counting Speciale and Pista!). That’s ok?
What about the 812 compared with the F12? That’s ok?
And the comment with respect to the 720 is just odd. Does the gentlemen not understand, that car sits in a completely different range - the super series. Why would you expect the Artura to be a further iteration of that?

570S was released 6 years ago! The 570 was released 4 years ago, and we now have an evolution of that with the Artura.

First deliveries were end of 2015. So we are both wrong. But 2020 doesn’t count due to Covid. So I’m probably slightly more right than you!
Besides if it was six years does that invalidate my points?
No, it adds extra validation. I was backing you up...Besides if it was six years does that invalidate my points?
Artura has just been released and deliveries will be end of 2021. And 2020 does still count.

Impressive car, but I can't help feel they've made a mistake by making it look so similar to the 540/570 series. The 720S was a step on from that look, yet now they've mostly gone back to it.
I'm actually pleased it looks similar to the 570s, it will stop mine looking obsolete overnight.Gassing Station | McLaren | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
