Afternoon folks,

I am currently weighing up whether to step from my 570s into a 720s.

The 570s has been absolutely fantastic, I really enjoy the car and to be honest there isn't anything 'achievable' that I would swap it for although as the 720s is still in the McLaren brand I am thinking is it the same- just MORE....

I haven't driven a 720s before (I did try to get out in one at the end of last summer to gauge the decision but the dealership wouldn't let me out in any...very bizarre...) so am still undecided and the COVID lockdown is not helping that.

Reading some reviews, there are some that really press how much MORE the 720s is.....there are others that say it's too much.

My driving will mostly be B-Road road trips up here in Scotland with a few European road trips planned once the COVID allows.

Really keen to understand or get some takes on what people found between the two to remove this constant doubt!!

Cheers
Chris

It’s a nice dilemma!

I went from a 570s TP which I used occasionally on track to a 720s.

The 720 is quick and probably too fast for just road use but it does so in a more accomplished way than a 570. The aero for track use is excellent though and keeps the car well planted.

In hindsight a 600LT would probably have suited me better as I do take my cars regularly on track. But having had one out on test drive I felt it was a bit harsh for road as I have other more hardcore cars so did not want anymore.

The 720s is an incredible car. On one hand it can be driven as a daily as it is reasonably practical but then put it on track/drag strip and it can obliterate pretty much all Supercars and the odd Hyper.

On track a 570s is found wanting but no such problem with the 720. For just road use I would probably stick with a 570 as it is plenty fast enough, looks good and likely to be cheaper to run. But it’s your cash and like can be too short !!

Was about to jump on and say this, either this or the DMS remap really does turn the 570 into something else, it's almost as quick as the 720 and I personally think it's more manageable.
