12c factory sports exhaust
Discussion
Pick my 12c up this week, snow permitting.
It has a factory sports exhaust and I wondered what owners thought about them? Anyone upgraded? I was thinking of getting a Thorney exhaust but unsure if it’ll be worth it.
Unfortunately I find it hard to not f&ck about with exhausts. Even modified my Maserati, which I’m not sure needed it. Mind you I went too far with that and ruined the sound only having to partially reverse what I did.
I’ll live with the exhaust for a while, but welcome any thoughts on this.

I too have the sports exhaust on my 12c and absolutely love it. It's very loud on cold start, then settles down, but is pretty loud from outside. When driving hard, it has an addictive high pitched F1 style ( to me anyway ) wail, that i really love! I also like the aggressive snarling, when giving it revs from stand still. People complained about Mclarens not sounding very good, this sounds amazing to my hears, helped sell the car to me when it was started ( warm ) and it sounded so good! I did come from an almost ghost like silent 911 turbo though.
I have the sports exhaust on my 650 Spider.
As mentioned, it sounds pretty loud from outside the car - when my car has been driven by somebody else, I'm surprised at how loud it is - and how far away I can hear it - when it comes back, and that's at low revs.
Inside - it sounds pretty good if it's a Spider and the rear window is down - but other than that, I'd say it's fairly quiet. Not even close to the 360 I sold last year.
I'm actually happy with the sound (I don't always want to drive it hard, or sound like I am) - but it sounds like you like "loud" exhausts, and I suspect it won't be loud enough for you.

Yes I also think the 650 sports exhaust is excellent. Lots of throbbing bass at low revs and with a snarling howl at the top from inside the car with the rear window down.
I particularly like that it doesn’t sound flatulent at low revs like a lot of flat plane cranks do. And it sounds much better in person than youtube videos as as typical device doesn’t really do the bass justice.

My neighbours have said they can hear me driving away for around 7 minutes, and that's when i am driving slowly in residential, the exhaust is pretty loud, especially on a quiet sunday morning! I have the factory sports exhaust on the 720S. Outside of the car it sounds fairly loud, particularly when in Track Mode, but when sat inside, it doesn’t. I think the carbon tub may suppress / dampen the sound inside and that the exhausts exit directly behind, well above ground level, rather than beneath and lower down. On my previous 720S I had a cat-back Larini fitted, which made little difference. If you want big sound, you’ll need to replace the whole system, but I think it will become tiresome after a while. One thing that the Mac’s do well at is the turbo whoosh - I’m constantly playing tunes.
