Following on from a thread on the US forum Mclaren Life (link immediately below) it seems that the 12c and 650s can be jacked akong the entirety of one side from a single point.

https://www.mclarenlife.com/threads/4-jack-points-...

That inconclusive thread references this Thorney video on brake pad changing which shows the car being jacked centrally at a point adjacent to the rear of the door.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_KhLgrC_1_A&fe...

This would be a game changer for wheel work given the very awkward and limited space around the front and rear jacking points as set out in the manual. Like my old Elise, it is great that you can jack the car quickly and have ample room to pop in axle stands rather than the ponderous and fiddly 'one corner at a time' routine.

Problem is.... I can't see where this jacking point is? In the video the door is raised and it seems to be close to the edge of the sill roughly in line with rear of the bottom of the door.

The US thread references 'a raised circle in white and green'. I see various raised circles, none of which appear to me to be suitable for jacking and none of which show any colour. Also, I note in the video that a flat topped jack is used with no allowance made for any raised area.

Is it safe to just use this side rail of the tub at this location? Its an incredibly strong structure towards the edge so presumably no issue in briefly using this point?

Anyone know any more or used this technique to lift the car? Im also aware that Thorney use the forum!

Thorney rarely uses this Forum. If you are on FB, search for McLaren Owners Technical Group. It is mainly UK members.

The four jack points identified in the manual you show are the ones I've used before and are well marked. Ok for one wheel but if you are taking them all off it is a huge faff going all four corners.

I saw the warning but the Thorney video shows you can use a single point.
