Anyone know this 650s?
Discussion
Looks to have a cracking spec. Miles not too high. It’s an earlier 650 but I don’t imagine that’s an issue?
Were there any updates to post 2014 650’s that this one wouldn’t have? Did they constantly evolve or did the older cars get upgrades like the 12C’s did?

I’m wondering, given that I bought mine from him yesterday, if I wouldn’t have preferred this one.
I think probably not, I like the Storm Grey, and am extremely happy with my example, and Mr Bols was extremely accommodative with me fannying around and changing details on him more than once, so I can certainly recommend him as a dealer.

He is a great guy. I’ve not bought from him before (nearly did a couple of years ago) but have a few friends who’ve highly rated him.
I wasn’t going to go for a McLaren due to dealers not being anywhere near me, but now I see that they’ve opened with Grange in Hatfield, I’m in!
Main concern is with the age. Does this car being a 2014 make it less desirable than a 2016 car?
If it were a Ford Fiesta or BMW M5, two years difference in age would make quite a difference, but prices of these cars don’t seem to be affected by ages. It seems more about spec and mileage.

That is indeed a fantastic spec car with great miles on it; most niggles if not all should of been taken care of.
The volcano colours in my opinion are 2nd to none; this 650 shall be absolutely stunning in the flesh.
I cannot imagine that hanging around for long especially with it appears the McLaren warranty for almost 12mths.
I don't understand why it is not at least £5k more.

Is it yours?
By the time Alastair called me back, I was 5th in the queue to see it, so I’m not expecting to be told it’s still available to buy, sadly.
I’ll have to wait for the next one.

I don't think that was priced correctly; he sold the last volcano 650 spider before he had pics for the advert.
If you want a really good 650 spider you cannot hang about.

Have you seen the similar spec one at Scuderia Prestige in Camberley? Bit more money and miles but a bit newer and looks a good car. I’ll have to wait for the next one.
(I haven't had any experience in dealing with them, though).

Given that I seemed to be the only one interested in the one I bought, is someone now going to tell me what I missed?
I think yours has no external CF? Makes absolutely no difference to the driving experience but the cars that seem to be hanging around (particularly the grey or black ones) all seem to have external parts in palladium rather than CF.drcarrera said:

That one has been for sale for quite some time, recently reduced by 2.5k? Very highly spec’d but maybe the Fabspeed cats putting people off? Not sure you could put a Mc warranty on it with non standard cats?(I haven't had any experience in dealing with them, though).

The warranty gave me full piece of mind, and I would not introduce anything that may void it.
Contrary to what others post, I thought my 650 sounded fantastic with the mac sports exhaust, and felt no need to replace it or any other parts of the exhaust to make it sound 'better'.
Regards to spec, as was just mentioned, as many as possible options and carbon are essential for selling on.
Some might well say its not, but i just sold mines and every single person that enquired asked if the bumpers, intakes, mirrors, diffuser etc etc were carbon, so i can confirm it is an important option.
This was closely followed by McLaren warranty, lift, upgraded meriden and soft close doors.
The spec was far more important to those whom enquired than the 32k miles.
Again, all just my experience an opinion, but Its no coincidence the cars that have hung about are poor spec and no McLaren warranty.

You’re right, it had very little, so maybe that’s the difference.Hopefully though it means it’ll cost me less to fix when I inevitably reverse it into a tree.
Speaking of which, is there such a thing as a stick-on Bluetooth reversing camera to try to avoid reversing it into a tree?
Asking for a friend.

I was pleased that I was able to bring mine back into the McLaren warranty before collection. All I had to do was call them up and pay for it over the phone, so it was simple enough. The warranty gave me full piece of mind, and I would not introduce anything that may void it.

I know of an owner who has recently reversed his newly painted 720S into a high kerb at a service station on the M1. Rear bumper and diffuser needed replacing. How the fk I didn’t see the kerb is beyond me. And that’s with 360 cameras and reversing sensors fitted.Hopefully though it means it’ll cost me less to fix when I inevitably reverse it into a tree.

I had a very lucky escape with the passenger door recently. Parked next to a fairly high kerb and didn't think about it - as g/f got out and closed the door, she noticed how close it got to the kerb - literally a mm to spare!MAC 720S said:

Hopefully he was as savvy as you and ordered that wee bit extra paint for unfortunate events such as this...
That is also the unfortunate downside of carbon...its a tad expensive to replace.

I did see your car advertised at the time ... fantastic spec but I’m one of the very rare few who don’t want a Volcano Orange car.

My friend can report that the diffuser makes a horrible crunching sound when you reverse it into a raised kerb ... and he felt like a complete idiot as he had the reverse camera fitted.Hopefully though it means it’ll cost me less to fix when I inevitably reverse it into a tree.
