Hey all. Finally reached a decision on what my next car will be, a 720s. I'd like to get some opinions on what the must haves are in regards to spec? Based on both ownership experience and desirability for future values. And any other buying tips? smile

Performed a search and looked at the posts over the last month or so on here and unless I’m doing a boy I don’t think there is one?

Most important is avoid luxury spec. Get performance spec.

After that, and in *my* opinion, get a relatively new car - at least MY2019 (silver ticks).

Personally, I'd say B&W sound upgrade and vehicle lift is essential for resale. Gorilla glass is nice too.

After that it's probably just personal choice, but I hate the electric seats and steering column option. I like the ultralight wheels.

Best buying tip I can give is to have the dealership put the car up on ramps, drop the undertrays and conduct a ‘safety inspection video’ covering pads, tyres, discs, dampers, suspension, hoses, any fluid leaks and general condition of underside. There’s a lot concealed behind the tray underneath the engine. Get them to send the video to you. Certainly the two dealerships I have bought from provided me with a ‘safety video’ during the annual / mileage servicing schedule. It’s no real hardship as part of the sales process if they really want to get you into the car.

I wouldn’t buy a 720S without the nose lift or parking sensors. Gorilla Glass roof turns the car into an oven - there’s loads of expansive glass already on the standard spec. In some cases, GG has been known to crack. If you are a track-monster: the harness bar, P1 seats, belts and track telemetry may be attractive. Apart from that, everything else is jewellery. Colour is subjective, but for me, the louder the better - Similar to Lambo’s, Macs wear bright and unusual colours very well.

Good luck on your hunt. They are the best all round supercar currently available.

Ps. Inspect the wallet in the frunk to make sure it contains the Allen Key tool that removes the inspection cover to top up fluids and that the battery charger is present. With used cars, they sometimes go missing.

Buying a car with remaining manufacturers warranty is a must and with at least 6 months as you will have enough time to enjoy it pre and post winter.

You can then get everything sorted if required before it runs out and then buy the extended warranty at £3,980.

Oh yes, I forgot those. Essential, and even better if you can get one with the excellent 360 cameras.

Really helps in parking, although the 720S has great vision out. But saving one wheel or paint scrape will pay for the cameras in one go smile

Pretty sure I've read on here that if you buy from a McLaren dealer, you'll get 12 months warranty as a minimum?

If you push the dealer hard enough you might be able to get a two year warranty.

Good luck with your search ……………...
