A 12C did get sold for £48k not too long ago. It had problems, but it wasn't a write-off and even with the fixes probably cost less than £60k
Ah but auctions and trade sales of fqed cars aren’t a true reflection of the market in the same way as a car listed by a dealer IMOEdited by Lee Jones Jnr on Friday 17th April 15:22

Where I suppose cars being sold in the middle of a global pandemic with all the associated financial carnage are a true reflection of the market. The Surveyor said:

Are you in buyer mode ?
Not for a 12COnly thing that held me back before was that the mclaren warranty currently couldn’t be extended beyond 10 year old cars so at the time there was a number of 12c’s on the market on verge of needing to be specialist warranties only.
A long video about which cars to buy and keep. 12C / 570s mentioned right at the end 26:00

Is this still the case?rootsandculture said:
Are you sure? That’s not what the people at McLaren had told me at the time.
I’ve dug it out :‘ An extended warranty can be taken out on a vehicle that is under 10 years of age with a mileage of 75,000 or less at the time of policy purchase and must have been owned for a minimum of 90 days. Therefore you would be able to renew the policy for 2 years up until the vehicle is 10 years old which would take it up to 12 years.’
You’re right, assuming you renew for 2 years within mclaren at the 10 year point.
Never the less, there will be a number of early cars coming out of reach of a mclaren warranty soon. I wouldn’t normally think this were a great or unusual problem but I gather they’re not exactly the most supportive of independent and part supply.
