I am currently looking for insurance quotes for my 570S Spider. So far, I have been given a figure of around £800 from Admiral, but was wondering if anyone is using, or has used, AIB, and if so, are they any good? Would also be interested to hear about other companies that people have experience of. Thanks in advance!

I use diamond which is part of admiral, only because it was slightly cheaper than the parent company, policy is identical.

With insurance I believe that you very much get what you pay for....

Using Admiral I’d look very carefully at exactly what is covered as I’m not sure they are a great option for supercars, especially as they seem to often consider anything other than standard base spec as a modification (I had this discussion with them a few years ago in relation to the California as it has quite a few factory options...all of which they wanted declaring)

I’m currently insured with Hiscox, through AIB as brokers, and have so far found them to be excellent in putting together a multi-car policy, all with agreed values and with few (if any) restrictions. Only “claims” to date have been in respect of replacement screens on two of the cars and both were sorted quickly and efficiently with no issues whatsoever.

I'm with AIB too, although I can't comment on how 'good' they are. I guess you only find that out in the event of a claim.

I think the cover is good though, with agreed value and choice of repairer being the too cost important things for the Ferrari. We also have the daily cars with AIB, albeit on lesser policies.

They aren't the cheapest, but I least I feel comfortable and confident with them.

I second this, I’m have a multi car policy with Hiscox through AIB, yes it’s more expensive but I feel you get what you pay for, having any driver and fully comp cover for any car is handy. Also agreed values that you don’t get with Admiral.

I’ve used Mannings in the past who are great if you want track cover

So, I'm still looking at insurance, but need to get something in place for the weekend as I will be collecting my new car! As I mentioned, I already have a quote from Admiral. However, after talking to the guys at AIB I am now wondering if Admiral is the way to go for a car of such a high value and speciality. Does anyone have any experience of actually making a claim with them (Admiral)? Things like being able to use a McLaren approved repairer come to mind, and also the use of new genuine McLaren parts. AIB have given me a quote which is considerable more than Admiral (this partly due to the fact that I have never owned a car of similar performance). However, this policy offers an agreed value, guaranteed use of approved McLaren repair facility etc.

I was insured with a high net worth policy via AIB which gave lots of benefits (agreed value, fully comp on other cars etc.). But because I can't garage the McLaren, they couldn't offer similar - and Admiral were clear winners price wise.

I've seen mixed reviews regarding Admiral claims - but I can confirm that plenty of people on the Owners group are insured with them.

My view is that - however much they argue - they simply wouldn't be able to repair the car at anywhere other than an official approved bodyshop, because nobody else could even obtain the paint codes. And it's not like they'd be able to find pattern parts to fit.

So far, I've been impressed with them anyway. I expected to be ripped off for an admin fee when I fitted a private registration but they did it for free.

Thanks for the feedback. I have a garage, but I couldn't guarantee that the car will always be put away overnight due to there being a race car in there that might be in a million bits! I would imagine this is another factor that is pushing the price up. I'll wait to see if AIB can come back with a better quote. By the way, when you arranged your insurance with Admiral was it all done on-line? So far, I have a quote sitting there that was all done by several mouse clicks!
