and having watched the mkt for months with increased frustration due to the high number of SOR cars meaning part ex'ing wasn't easy I finally put a deposit down on a 570s today...to say I'm happy is an understatement!!
Earlier car with 17k miles on it but still under extended Mcl warranty until Feb 2020, just been serviced too (full Mcl service history of course). Car looks in excellent condition throughout and hasn't had any panel replacements from the corrosion issue that afflicts some of these. Hopefully all goes smoothly on Sat..I think I asked all the relevant questions with the dealer but any other points I should consider?

If you are a cash buyer it's certainly alot more straightforward tbh...but the right car came up at a reputable dealer ( Redline Specialist cars). Thankfully there was no messing about with SOR so we were able to agree a deal fairly quickly. Yes it'll be my first McLaren so certainly a dream realised, car is black with the lightweight diamond cut alloys which work really well, carbon interior (paddles also which was a must for me) with Alcantara seats and steering wheel, some nice red accents on the interior to brighten things up a bit!

Congrats sounds like a nice classy spec.

How were Redline for px valuation on your own car? They have some tasty stock at fair prices but never really known how attractive their deals are when a px comes into the equation.

Cheers guys...it came on Sunday night but I was quick to engage so it wasn't there for long. They pretty much offered me the same on my Vantage as an Aston dealer did a couple of months back but I've also done 3k miles in that time so seemed fair enough. There was a little bit of wiggle on their end too but the car was well priced to start with given the spec so I think it's a fair deal overall...and the fact it's still got 3 months Mcl warranty was an important point for me. Doesn't seem to have had any major warranty work done as I specifically asked which hopefully means it's a sound car.

Congrats!

The only thing I'd say is that if it's not had any panels replaced......expect that to be an issue in the future.........it would better if they'd been replaced IMO............

Congratulations.
Enjoy the new car. I wouldn't be to concerned about the paint, these cars have a 10 year paint warranty that Mclaren seem to sort out as soon as possible.
I am sure there are plenty of cars out there that have never had or ever will have paint problems.

As is the case with these forums you only hear about the cars that have had issues.

I have had my 540c now for 5 days and have had no paint issues.................

About time too!

Sounds like a great spec. I would never have a Mac now without the full Alcantara treatment...sooo comfy, not hot in the summer, not cold in the winter, grip you like glue and no reflection glare off the dashboard....same with diamond cut wheels...love them...all my cars have them.

Wouldn't be in the slightest bit concerned about the corrosion issue...if it arises they shall replace, paint and ppf it very quickly and the quality of the work is factory finish or even better.

Bet you Sat cannot come soon enough!

So, just to confirm, were there any issues transferring the McLaren warranty to yourself? The reason I ask is that I have seen it mentioned on here that the warranty is not transferable if the sale was from a dealer other than an official McLaren franchise.

..as another that came from AM - welcome. So the V12V is gone - or did you keep it?

Great choice - congrats - you will not regret it.

Thanks guys...on the warranty yes the guy at redline was confident this could be transferred to my name but I will make sure he is 100% on that before Sat. As for my V12S it's making way for the Mclaren, it's been a brilliant car to own ( and v reliable!) hoping the 570S is the same. Already looking ahead to a trackday or two and some road tripping in the new yr!

If it's a dealer owned car, I didn't think that was possible - and if it isn't, I think it's 90 days before you could even put the warranty on it? (Assuming it doesn't cost to get it through the intiial inspection). I'd make sure that's confirmed - and I'm not sure I'd trust the dealer you're buying from.

You mention track days - I'm not sure the extended warranty covers that quite as well as the manufacture warranty.

Congratulations ! - Fantastic car, I'm sure you'll be blown away by it as you drive it regularly ... pretty much regardless of whatever you had before.

A few small points to check as it arrives

1) There should be a branded Lithium type charger with it
2) As above a small bag with an extended towing eye (screw in type)
3) It should have 6 pieces of "aero" deflection under it - in front of front wheel, behind front wheel arch, mid undertray (one each side of each)
4) If it has a cover there should be a Mclaren branded storage bag for it to go in
5) If it's got the Mclaren tracker make sure you get the details (Vodaphone i think) and transfer the subscription ASAP (or it "dies" and cannot be re started apparently)
6) the UK McLaren owners club and Mclaren Life website both are a good source of information

Personally, I'd buy a £15 tin of the Pentosin CHF steering / suspension fluid, A litre of Mobil Extra Coolant and a Litre of Mobil 1 oil and keep them in the garage from day 1 (If you do need to top up levels the 1st 2 are unusual and you cant just get them from most garages / motor factors - you really don't want to use anything else).

Good Luck !

Congratulations. I hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed mine. It sounds a great spec and black really shows off the lines well.

I also came from a Vantage (albeit a V8) into a 570s and never regretted it for a second, but will be interested to hear how you get on thumbup

If it is SOR and it is the extended warranty as opposed to the manufacturers 3 year warranty, the existing owner has to request the transfer of the warranty and furnish them with the new owners details.

If the garage applies it may well flag up and be refused for transfer...bit of a grey area the SOR bit and the warranty company have introduced tighter controls.

if a garage takes a Mac as a trade and the extended warranty was only purchased by the owner 3 weeks ago it ends with the ownership...new owner would have to have inspection and pay full warranty costs also.

That is how it was explained to myself when the warranty had been transferred into my name and had a chat when i had to contact them to change the reg number.
