Well it is probably about as relevant to my life as a TT that can do that. Drive it for 100k on the Autobahn and then I will be properly impressed ...
but hey am sure most of you guys spend their time at drag strips - a quarter mile at a time and all that

Don’t get why people in the UK are so fussed by these cars - doing more than 140 mph probably lands you in jail, so it is more about how it makes you feel and how it looks / sounds than how it performs anyway I would think

A company puts up a video boasting how fast they've made a supercar, a record setting McLaren, go down the drag strip. Compare it to other cars and it causes offence.

I'm not quite sure why a simple observation appears to have caused a few people an issue?

I think the point here is that someone has taken the already phenomenal 720S and made into an intercontinental ballistic missile. That is all. The OP never made a comparison about it with anything else. It is all about the 720S.

For you then to pipe up that an Audi TT can be made to go faster is not relevant. Nor does anyone care, because an Audi TT is just, well an Audi TT...cut and blow dry anyone? Whereas in comparison the 720S sits in a completely different league, whether it goes faster or not.

That is why, I think, a few people have an ‘issue’.

Clearly people do care as my simple comparison has clearly caused offence. It was supposed so be amusing in the fact that some "white goods" cars are faster than modified supercars.

It is amusing when a "hairdressers car" leaves a supercar for dead at the drag strip. Just like this thread rather than talking about drag racing or times it becomes rather personal.

You can make any car quick but show me another car that'll hit 100mph in under four seconds and be comfortable popping to Waitrose, crossing a continent, be quickest at a trackday and sit, untroubled, in stop start traffic.
