570GT - Shaking Steering Wheel
Discussion
Picked up a 2017 GT three weeks ago. Within 10 minutes of driving it out of the dealership, at over 80mph, the steering wheel was shaking more than Shakin Stevens suffering from Parkinsons on ten litres of coffee.
Took the car back two days after collecting it. It was re-balanced/re-tuned as one of the wheels was out of sync. They couldn't/wouldn't test the car at 70+mph, but assume it's fixed.
Take the car out the next day, and the problem still very much exists. Have taken videos of my hands on the steering wheel clearly showing the vibration, and will send to dealer tomorrow.
Anyone experienced this, and any other issues that this could be a symptom of ?

Are you a member of the McLaren Owners Club UK? There is a huge amount of knoweldge and experience to fall back on for things like this, as well as a very active social scene > https://www.mclarenowners.org.uk/. It is recognised by McLaren Automotive.Took the car back two days after collecting it. It was re-balanced/re-tuned as one of the wheels was out of sync. One of two things:
1. flat spot on one of the tyres. If the car has been parked up in one place for a long time.
2. If Pirelli tyres they have sound deadening foam inlays. Sometimes that foam can come lose inside and cause vibration. Tyre warranty issue or simply take out the foam and rebalance.

Firstly, no this is not normal. Much to my personal frustration, I'm especially sensitive to an unbalanced wheel and my 570S is perfect.
Your issue is almost certainly a wheel balance issue or a faulty tyre.
I do sympathise because I recently took our new BMW M5 to Switzerland and back with what seemed like an out-of-balance wheel; turned out to be a faulty (out of round) P-Zero. Which I found out after the SIXTH attempt at having them balanced. It was a tiny flaw, small enough that the first five places that balanced them didn't notice. This is on a brand new, near-factory fresh M5 but I also previously had issues with P-Zero's on one of my R8's. They just don't seem to be aa great tyre in terms of quality control. Bad luck because M5's can come fitted with Michelins to Pirelli's and I got the short straw.
I replaced all four boots with a new set of Michelin PS4S and the M5 has been flawless since.
In your case, firstly not all tyre balancers or their operators are equal. I've had main dealers and high end tyres shops not able to get balancing right. If one place hasn't balanced your wheels, for instance your dealer, then my experience they won't be able to do it on a second or third attempt so move on to somewhere else.
I do recommend Black Boots in Chesham who are excellent. They have a very good and well-calibrated machine, and they know how to use it. If you can, try them first and they might just fix it first time. They are so consistently good that despite me living in Leicestershire, I will often travel the 200 mile round trip to get my wheels balanced there. They will do it as a matter of course, but make sure they do check that your wheels are round.
If they can't balance your wheels then in my experience, new front tyres will almost certainly fix it. You don't really have the luxury of moving to Michelin if you insist on keeping to a McLaren approved tyre (although I still personally wouldn't rule this out) so a new set of boots would be your next logical step.

Got the same problem!! Picked up my brand new 600LT last week, hoping to have a good run but steering wheel shaking like mad as soon as I drive a “little” bit quick. Bit disappointed so far!

Have you showed us your car somewhere here, pics pls!? :P
I think this is reasonably common issue, I had it on my 570 coupe an spider, Mclaren ascot rebalanced the wheels on the coupe on a number of occasions but it was never 100%, a very faint wobble was still present when I sold it.
Had the same issue when my spider arrived and apparently the fix was to over pressurise the tyres, leave overnight the rebalance in the morning. No problems since!

Thanks for the feedback and suggestions.
Sent the dealer a couple of videos, and they agree with a couple of posters here, that it could be the noise-cancelling foam inside the tyres coming loose. They said they don't automatically check for that issue as the re-balance/re-tune should pick that up, and they did notice a discrepancy with one of the tyres which they rectified.
It goes back to the dealer next week.
In the meantime, a buzzing sound is coming from a rear B&W speaker, so will get that checked too.

Pic as requested, when I say I am a bit disappointed I am referring to the shaking steering wheel, not the car - the car is great. Hopefully I can get the shaking sorted so I can enjoy it fully.
