Which McLaren Dealer

Evening all. I am seriously considering going down the 720S route as it seems it's actually available to buy unlike the cars from Maranello or Stuttgart.
A few questions. I am equidistance from Ascot & Hatfield. Which dealer would you go for and why? Given these things are readily available, and you will lose money on them, do the dealers negotiate on price in your experience? Any known problems with them from owners or recurring warranty issues? Thanks in advance.

Only used b'ham and Manchester, but the feedback from the owners forum is
- Ascot , long established and very experienced but stories of them being very busy such that owners have had to wait up to 6 weeks for routine work.
Hatfield - very new, in a temporary building, but also very keen for business.
Loose money and discounts
Each super series car has done a bit better than the previous.
But expect it to crap money, as a guide my 3 year old , 5k mile 650s is for sale at about £100k below new list price.
I don't see why 720s will not be circa £150k to £175k when 3 years old.
I've not heard of any discounts on new 720s, but do know a few private sellers looking to sell at £20k to £30k behind new list, with little or no interest from dealers to buy them - this implies they might be feeling overstocked - so may do deals on used cars in stock.
We are however just coming out of winter, and a period when the 720s has had some great press, so this could all change in the following months.
If it was my money, I'd buy a very lightly used private car (or from AB) and save yourself a chunk of the first years deprecation.

Ascot are about 15 miles away from me, Birmingham (Rybrook) are about 100 miles away from me. Only used b'ham and Manchester, but the feedback from the owners forum is

Having experience with both, I would always use Birmingham rather than Ascot.

There is a certain element of luck unfortunately wrt to how well you get treated, there are some pretty dire experiences people have got from all the main dealers. I'd suggest trying the one nearest where you live (turning up and putting a face to people helps) first then perhaps go further if need be.
I have extensive experience of Grange Welwyn Aston over the past 7 years with three purchases and all servicing & repairs. Generally excellent service all round. James, previously the Aston service manager, is a great guy and has moved across to McLaren sales. The Mclaren servicing is out of the Aston/Jag servicing bays at Welwyn until the new facility is built. I have just put my 650s in for some work there and very happy with the service so far.
I've been dealing with both Ascot and Hatfield.
Already have a good relationship at Grange.
James is a good guy, so is Craig... I've been dealing mostly with Craig.
Both seem decent, but like others have said Ascot can get quite busy.
Plus I got on better with Craig, the dealership's closer to me and they gave me a good deal on a new stock car they'd just taken delivery of. Collect it next weekend.

Funny you should say that! I just bought a 650 spiderf for the other half from them last week and we are in Essex. Cost £1000 to get it down here on a covered trailer. This is our first mclaren and to be honest I was a little bit disappointed as they haven't even bothered to call to see if we are happy with the car or if it even turned up!! Oh well maybe it's because we only bought a used car???
£1000 ?Flight up , night in a nice hotel , bite to eat and a few beers , a tank of petrol and you’d still have saved a good few bob.

Thanks & yes... me too. I'm like a kid in mid-December waiting for Christmas... while appreciating time more than I used to... I'm wanting the next 10 days to disappear.Well, close 2nd favourite colour.
My perfect spec was going to be Volcano Orange. But I would have had to wait til August for that car. The majority of the rest of the configuration is very close to what I would have specced for myself and I saved £30k off list.
Other things it's "missing" are the front light/air intakes in Carbon, track app & cameras, 360 camera (it does have reversing camera) and I was going to get the wheels in Pacific Colourstream.
But for the £50k saving off my perfect spec given their recent 3.5% price rise... the minor compromises are well worth it... because it's meant I could put that cash towards my daily... which I have upgraded from an M4 CP/CS to a 991.1 GT3... so nothing to complain about.
Compared to the pics, it's missing some of the performance spec... so the mirrors, front and rear air vents are going to be replaced with carbon parts. The roof is getting glass as I love the extra light that adds to the cabin. Plus I am paying to add the extended Carbon paddles.
